Jackie was not happy about Nico's new project initially, but after much reassurance that it's just one song on what will likely be an obscure disc, she relented and let him enjoy practicing in peace, coming in to listen, even, as he works over & over to nail this song.

It's late, they'll be recording the guitar tracks the next day, and Nicolas wants to practice for several more hours. Jackie's eyes are red & sleepy, so he takes a break & talks to her a little, reminisces about the time they spent in the mountains: that was when he fell in love with her, he remembers, and tries to grasp that feeling from the past & make it present.

It's still there, it's just the dissension & argument that rises between them that makes it fall away.

Her belly presses up against him as he kisses her: things are difficult, yes, but this is not the time for him to behave like a child, when he is about to be a father. He kisses Jackie goodnight, tells her he's going to practice late & that she should get some sleep. She turns & smiles at him as she leaves the studio, and Nico sighs happily & picks up his guitar. A guitar is a demanding enough mistress, having that and even one girl is almost too much....

Nicolas doesn't stop practicing until almost morning & it takes him a few hours of nervous tossing to finally fall asleep. He sleeps until Jackie wakes him a few hours before the afternoon recording session. Nico has been meeting a lot of celebrities lately, but this is a rock legend: he has to stell himself to act like a professional & not a geeky fanboy.

The best thing about this studio is the view of the ocean: Nico stares out at the Pacific, waves rolling onto shore while he loses himself in his guitar. All the practice paid off, Nicolas plays like he's never played before, every note a kiss he teases from the strings. Bill says he wants to make a video of this song. He's crazy if he thinks MTV will play an 8 minute rock video.

But Bill is serious about this video idea. Once the recording session is over, Bill is all over Nico with ideas for this video, he's convinced this is going to be the biggest thing ever. It is the best thing Nico has ever done, yes, but it's not the kind of thing that sells in the billions. "Come to dinner with me," Bill says. Nico would rather not, but Bill is relentless.
