"You're desperate," Alison says to him, "You've just come back from Hell, which you now own, and you want advice from Death. This meeting will be brief & it won't help you. She has no time for you: when Lucifer evicted everyone from Hell, the dead came back to earth & Death has a lot on her hands now. You aren't going to say much, I need that desperation to be in your face & your hands Gavin. Use your hands..." Gavin listens intently, Alison is his lifeline out of this movie. He only needs to give her what she wants, so he can be finished with it.

Astrid smiled at him & wished him luck before they began shooting: Gavin is relieved she hasn't relapsed into hostility, it makes it so much easier for him to work with her. "So what do you advise me to do?" Gavin asks, and watches as Death speaks her lines. "Do? How should I know? What do you want to do? Open a skiing resort? Turn it into a theme park? Sell it to the highest bidder? It's your choice. You've got the place. What do you want to do with it?" It's such an unimaginable thing, to be given ownership of such a place as this hell, Gavin has problems even imagining hell's existence. "I do not know," he responds, drawing his hand over his brow, flinching.

They repeat the scene several times before Alison calls for a break. Gavin is trying his best, but they haven't shot the scenes in Hell with Lucifer yet, and he just hasn't been able to internalize the desperation Alison is seeking. Astrid compliments him on his performance, telling him she's impressed, and Gavin is encouraged. Acting means everything to Astrid, so he must be at least partly there if she's willing to compliment him.

Alison never really takes breaks, so Gavin rarely gets one, either, though he'd like just a minute to be with Shay, he has to discuss the scene with his director.

When Alison is distracted by someone new entering the room, Gavin turns to Shay & impulsively kisses her. It might be his last chance before they finish shooting.
