While Coby is looking forward to eventually hooking up with Nina, whenever she can schedule him in, he hasn't stopped going out looking for other girls.

Coby isn't entirely unaware that he's chosen Ti's favorite club to hang out in hoping that she will show up. He's been able to avoid her calls & say 'no' to her when she does get through, but it drives him nuts, wanting so badly to see her, that he finds himself driving out to Hollywood though he has no reason to be here.

Then, he sees her. He hasn't seen her in years & thought he would never see her again. He hasn't even thought about her at all in the past couple of years, he'd almost forgotten her entirely. But as soon as he sees her, it's like he'd been devastated all this time by her absence, like his life can truly begin now that she's returned. "Becca, I can't believe it's you," he cries as he rushes over, "What are you doing here?" "I heard this was a great place to party," Rebecca quips, like she never left L.A.

"Becca, it's so good to see you again," Coby says as he reaches out to touch her shoulders. How could he have forgotten? he wonders. He used to think about her every day, all day. In high school, Becca was Heather's best friend & Coby's first & biggest crush, the girl Coby would never dare ask for, never even tried to kiss her. Because she was untouchable, brilliant, the smartest girl in the school & the weirdest too, she was so far out of his league, she might as well have been from another universe. She left L.A. after graduation, went to Berkley and never came back. And Coby forgot all about her. "When did you get back? Where are you staying? Are you here for good? Have you called Heather?" he asks, his questions coming out in a sloppy rush. Coby laughs as she raises an eyebrow at him, unable to answer all that at once. "Let me buy you a drink," he says, and that feels really good. He isn't a kid anymore, at least, he thinks.

Becca tells him she's moved back to L.A. & she's living in Hollywood. She just moved in today, in fact, & just came out looking to get a drink & unwind. She hasn't called Heather yet, she was going to do that tomorrow. "How is Heather? I haven't talked to her in years," she says. Coby smiles, "Dude, get this, Heather is married." Becca is stunned, "No way! Not Heather..Did she marry that drummer, her kid's father?" Coby's smiles broadens, "No, it gets better, the dude she married is a cop," he laughs, watching Becca shake her head in amazement. "Heather married el puerco? You're shitting me...." Coby laughs & swears it's truth, shocking Rebecca even further.

Becca's shock turns quickly to disappointment, "What did Heather do with her plants?" she wants to know, "I thought I had a sure thing when I came back to L.A....I can't believe she's out of business." Coby laughs and tells Becca that Heather is not out of business, "You know how she feels about her plants," Coby chuckles & Becca laughs with him, but frowns, too. "I thought I knew how she felt about cops, too, Coby. Seriously, what is up with that?" she asks suddenly very grave. "She loves him, Becky," he says, using the forbidden name, hoping she'll kick his shin, like when they were teenagers. But she doesn't notice, her frown deepens. "I'll have to check this out for myself," she says, looking away like she's talking to herself.

"Lighten up, Becca, Heather is happy, there's nothing to 'look into'," Coby laughs, happy that he can slide right back into the kind of familiarity they had as teenagers. She doesn't believe him, and that's fine, she can see Heather for herself and make her own judgement. Coby changes the subject away from his sister. Inside, his stomach tickles & his throat is dry despite the beer, ...Rebecca is his unclimbed mountain, a challenge he balked from when he was young & inexperienced. Now it's not inexperience that keeps him hovering about the foothills, but bitter experience..Ti was his friend, and he lost that by letting sex get involved. Becca is more than a friend, she's like family, and he doesn't have enough of that to risk losing what he has.
