Xtina firmly changes the topic, and tells Rebecca about Rainier.

Rebecca gets this concerned look, and says, "The guy down the hall from me? I met him yesterday, I could tell at one glance that guy is player, you should be careful with him." What nerve the bitch has! Xtina thinks, not sure if she's making a new friend or a new enemy in Rebecca.

Xtina has plans with Eleanor the next day. Rainier hardly has two days in row that he doesn't work until late in the night, leaving Xtina on her own most evenings. Coby won't even answer her calls now, he'll sleep with any girl in the world except her, it seems. So Xtina desperately tries to distract herself with her friends & her favorite haunts.

It's all just so much of the same thing every day. And every day she thinks about Coby: it's far worse than when she broke up with Gavin. She doesn't even have friend like Coby she can cry with, she just has pitiless Eleanor, and Rainier who she'd be too embarassed to cry in front of.

Rainier turns up unexpectedly. He looks surprised at first to see Xtina, but then he says he hoped to find her here, since he got off work early & came home to find she was out.

Now that Rainier is here, Xtina doesn't really need Eleanor around anymore.

Eleanor leaves saying she'd rather go home & wait for Justin to get off work than stay here & be a third wheel. "Who said you were a third wheel?" Xtina asks, but she's glad Eleanor is going.

She's got Rainier, she doesn't need anyone else. He should be enough to make her forget Coby.
