"Nicolas, I don't know how you can face Jackie now: I can barely look at her now knowing what you did, I'm so ashamed for you. How are you going to marry her when you have this....thing...you've kept from her?" Andrea demands, cutting his brother right to the heart. Nicolas knows how wrong what he's doing is, and so much worse than what Andrea believes: Nico even has a date with Mary tomorrow after the show he's taping.

"Nicolas, I swear if you don't do right by your woman I'm going to make you," Andrea threatens. That's what Nicolas wanted to do, when he asked Jackie to marry him, to do right by her & their child. That's something you have to do on your own, no one, not even your well-meaning & slightly self-righteous younger brother can make you do it.

Nicolas starts to walk away. Upstairs, Trillare starts to cry & Jackie goes to her. Nicolas considers following but decides he doesn't want to face Jackie right now.

Andrea doesn't give Nico a choice: now that Jackie is upstairs & out of earshot, the younger brother swings the elder around & forces him to look him in the face.

"I swear to you, Andrea, I regret what I did, but it was just once. There's no reason to upset Jackie over it," Nico pleas, and Andrea shakes his head. "I don't want to hear this 'just once' bullshit. Just once can happen over & over again....Nico, Jackie isn't Mama..." he says. "And I'm not Papa," Nico cuts his brother off.

"Not yet, Nico," Andrea says, and Nicolas collapses as his brother claps him affectionately on the shoulder, "You can be different, or you can follow his footsteps. You're already heading down the wrong road."

"Andrea, I cannot tell you how sorry I am," Nico says, "And I promise you I'll never do it again. But we can't let Jackie know." Andrea starts to insist he wants Jackie told, but Nico stops him, "You have to understand, Andrea, Jackie is sensitive & right now she thinks she's gotten fat & she's worried about her looks. If she finds out about...what happened...she'll think it's about that. I don't want her to think it was about her, Andrea, you have to trust me on this," Nicolas insists. He stooped to involving his brother in his web of lies, and Nicolas is very sorry for that. But it ends here, Nico's decided, he won't keep his next date with Mary, and he won't make any new ones. Andrea embraces him, trusting his brother to do as he promised.
