When Nicolas comes offstage he hears Debbie tell Mary that she saw Andrea first & he's hers. No doubt Mary got a little too flirty with his younger brother: Nicolas has figured out a lot of Mary's interest in him is professional, her language coach is not a native Italian and she often repeats things Nico says back to him, practicing her accent, even while they make love, and he assumes she'll be done with him when her movie is finished. Andrea's accent is stronger than Nico's, being new in town, he's the best looking of all his brothers, with an athelete's physique, and he's completely unattached (except for this sudden claim of Debbie's), so of course Mary would trade Nicolas for his younger brother in a second if she could.

If she could, but Mary isn't Andrea's type: Debbie is.

Debbie is moving a little quickly in on his little brother, Nicolas thinks. Andrea isn't used to these phony Hollywood types & Nico doesn't want to see his heart broken on the whim of some model in a rock video.

Nico thinks he better get his brother alone for a second & warn him about girls like Debbie before it's too late.

But then there's Mary: when Bill's attention is turned from his actress friend to his 'talent', Nico moves in to talk to her. It would be more conspicuous to avoid her altogether, since she is an 'acquaintance' of his.
