The vocal track for 'Since I've Been Lovin' You' is being recorded in the record label's studios. Nico already did the part of this project that interested him, the guitar: while he will sing when called on, he doesn't consider himself a vocalist, and wishes they had picked another singer for this track, one who could do justice to his guitar. He settles the headphones over his ears & the engineer rolls the track, and Nicolas listens to the sweet love cries of his guitar, and it feels like a hand gripping on his heart. She's so beautiful, so achingly beautiful, and the way she sings for him....he's listened to recordings of himself play before, and he's sung accompaniement to himself playing live, but he has never had to record a vocal track to himself on guitar, never had to listen to his guitar & sing back to her while she wasn't in his hands. He hears her voice singing, he'd know her sound from any other guitar in the world, and he knows it's his fingers making her sing, only his fingers ever make her sing, but still, it feels like walking into your house & hearing your woman making love to another man.

Nico has sung Robert Plant before, he's done tons of covers at the Viper Pit, so he feels at least prepared for this in that sense. But Jackie would have really nailed this song, she can wail & rasp with emotion that comes from her deepest, blackest, rawest places. Jackie doesn't consider herself a vocalist either, but she is, Nico loves her voice. So he imitates her as best as he can, like Plant imitating Joplin, as he sings this song of betrayal & heartbreak, and his own guilt feelings, the confusion, pain, doubt, longing, and even the sheer physical finger-twitching need to hold his guitar while singing, it all comes out in his voice, "Baby, since I've been lovin' you, I'm about to lose my worried mind," over and over again, the truest emotion he's ever expressed in any instrument. Nico will never consider himself a singer, but as a musician, he recognizes what happened on that track was a rare kind of magic. There is no need for any alternate takes: he may never be able to do that again. "They are going to call you 'The Boss'" Bill says, shattering the magical aura of he moment.

"If anyone ever calls me 'The Boss', that's the day I retire, Bill," Nico says.

Bill is kind of delusional about where a long bluesy song like this can go in today's music scene, but Nico burns now with exhilaration, this is the best thing he will likely do for a long time, the kind of guitar he rarely gets to play, and the only time he ever really sang with everything he had. Bill has millions of dollars at his disposal to promote the hell out of this thing, and it seems he committed to doing that, so who knows....

Bill has more 'great news' for Nico: he's got a gig singing at a wedding. But not just any wedding: the much talked about multi-million dollar wedding between actors Samuel Valentine & Julie Stevens. Several of the label's top sellers, like Veronique & Estelle will be singing at this event, which will be attended by stars & Industry bigwigs. It's a very big deal, Bill promises.
