Jackie keeps waiting for that 'magic moment' to happen, when all of a sudden everything will be right, she'll really feel like she & Nicolas are family. The baby gets closer & closer, and Jackie's doubts grow & grow. Livin' Large printed a story claiming Nico was the father of Stacey's baby as well as her own: Jackie knows that's not true, but she has nightmares all the time about him cheating on her, abandoning her, and he's always out, hours & hours at a time. She knows Bill arranges his schedule, the way her schedule was arranged before she got pregnant, but jealous suspicions rise up in the lonely days spent wondering who he's with. She doesn't want to argue with him all the time, but she's cranky & hormonal & the stress just gets to her.

Bill has set Nico up with a gig playing guitar on a track for a new CD by John Paul Jones. Nico reassures her, it's just one song, an 8 minute cover of an obscure Led Zeppelin tune. Bill used to do the same to her, pull her away from her band on solo projects, a song here, a gig there, always trying to get her to go solo. Now it's like he's already decided she's washed up, useless, and he's after Nico.

Nico stops practicing for a minute to romance her, reminding her about the time they spent in the mountains. He tells her that's when he fell in love with her.

He has to record tomorrow, so he needs to practice late into the night. He kisses her goodnight, tender & romantic. Jackie turns to glance at him one more time as she leaves the studio, his eyes closed as he plays. She wanted him so badly, she remembers. She still wants him, but it's a different kind of wanting now that she has him & fears losing him.
