Kissing Gavin like that in front of Shay made him too flustered to give any kind of decent performance, ensuring that they would have to do the scene over the next day. And the next day's performance is even weaker than Gavin's first: Shay must have laid into him hard, Astrid thinks, smiling inside. She'll have him in her hands in no time.

The shoot is interupted when a strange couple arrives to talk with Alison: Astrid vaguely remembers the woman being at the costume photo sessions during pre-production, but the man is entirely new. As soon as he walked in the room, Astrid could look at nothing else. And while the woman talks with Alison, he approaches Astrid, looking at her with eyes shining like mirrors, so that when she looks into them, she sees herself.

"You'll lose if you win," he says to her, "But you'll win if you lose." And he turns & leaves without a word when the woman he came with beckons him. So strange, Astrid thinks, What did he mean? And why did he pick on her out of everyone on set to do that to? Astrid thought her friends were weird, but Byron's are downright insane.

Alison hustles everyone back on set, and Astrid & Gavin resume their places before the cameras. Before Alison can call "Action!", Gavin says quietly, "Will you come & get a drink with me tonight, Astrid?" Astrid breathes a surprised "Sure," just as the shooting begins again, and now it is her turn to be too flustered to act. Did he just ask her out? What about Shay? Astrid collects herself & focuses on her performance, saving the questions to ask Gavin herself, when they go out for that drink.
