Older Simlogical News - 1st April 2006
In Miscellaneous Hacks there is now an alarm clock that has more flexibility than your average alarm clock. This one can have the time set freely, to the nearest hour; and also which days it should operate on. It can be set to wake a named Sim, regardless of whether the alarm is in the same room. Or it can wake everyone in the room, or everyone on the lot. There is an on/off switch so you can have it not operating for several days without having to redo your settings.
23rd March
Anyone with OFB who finds their locked doors, both Maxis or hacked, have started allowing Sims to obsess over things the other side might like to try the small patch I made which basically edits the global that unsets the routeblocking flag and makes it set it instead! You may need to unlock and relock the affected doors first, or even repurchase them before the patch takes effect. It's a bit experimental (although I believe safe) so I would like feedback. It's the top file on the Patches page as of this date.
There is a slight nuisance with my automatic open/close sign on community lots that makes the business open as soon as the owner gets there even if the sign says closed. This can be worked around by also having an original unhacked sign on the lot, but do not use it to open and close the business, use the hacked sign. You do not need to do this on a home business lot.
15th March
I have made the OFB version of the No Autonomy Fridge now. Please ensure your non-OFB version is removed before installing this.
12th March
The Employee Token is now available. You use one token per employee and can preset times for them to start and stop work. This needs to be used in conjunction with the Automatic Open/Close sign and will only summon employees when the latter is in Auto mode. Pescado is meanwhile working on an unrelated but (hopefully) compatible hack to make employees take breaks at suitable times.
11th March
The No Escape patch for prisoners, OFB version, was faulty. Please remove until I announce a fix. In the meantime, TwoJeff's Visitor Controller incorporates checking for the Prisoner Tag.
9th March 2006
I have made an automated open/close sign for OFB businesses. This is a separate object and does not override the original shop sign. You can use this the same as a normal shop sign, or switch it over to automatic, when it will open, close, call employees to work and send them home again at preset times of your choice.
18th February
This is actually about updates of the 16th, but I haven't had time to write the news until now! I have updated the metal prison bunks and the pine prison bed to be useful in a boarding school. They have optional "suggested bedtimes" so that kids will want to do nothing better than go to bed from 8pm onwards, and teens from 10pm onwards, and they will usually go back to bed after going to the toilet if they wake in the night. The option for handling bedtimes is on the updated school bell.
Also on the bell is now a school rules section, which works with some optional patches to stop various types of behaviour, such as fighting.
The servery has been updated so it detects if it is on a school or a prison lot and offers you an option to set it for pupils or prisoners only.
9th February
The gaps get longer don't they! I have finally got the next stage of the school working. There is now the ability to stream your pupils, and a classroom controller with some basic timetabling facilities. There is also a role for a teacher! Be aware you need to download the *new* classroom table and book file to work with the new features. The old one is still available for those who want to educate kids at home.
19th January
There is a extra new mortgage shrub worth $10,000 for Sims with smaller gardens or bigger debts. I changed both the shrubs internally so they do a bit of price trickery to stop the bills getting confused by negative amounts. It's worth downloading the original again. The new shrub is slightly yellower green than the existing one, so you can tell them apart.
I changed the Weekly Boarding School so that if you change your child's school while they are away for the week, they are allowed home next time 4pm comes around, so that they can start their new school.
13th January
Your sims can now have a mortgage or rent book that looks like a garden shrub! Very simple concept - purchase and sale prices are reversed, so when your sim buys it, they get a $1000 loan or mortgage, and when they sell it, they pay back the loan. While they have the shrub or shrubs, each one charges the family funds $10 interest or rent per day. If they haven't repaid the loan when they move out, they don't get the full value for the house, and the next family take on the debt (but get the house cheaper by that amount). You can put some of these on the lot when you are building the house before you move any sims in, and therefore reduce the price your sims have to pay when moving in, allowing greedy sims to move into quite a luxurious house without having to work their way up the property ladder.
9th January
If you have downloaded my Prep School or Boarding School (the Flexi School should be ok) and you don't have NightLife, you should delete them as they might stop your children going to school. Sorry for any inconvenience - I recently discovered with the help of Hakaisha's testing that they had code in them that is incompatible with pre-NL games.
2nd January 2006
I've made another upload of the Prison Core object set, as there were some remaining bugs. I also revised the Simple Staff Controller and it now goes with its own version of the globals - included in the download. You must delete the other versions of the staff controller and globals every time you want to change which ones you use, as they have different names and do not overwrite each other.
27th December
A bug had crept into the prison set that would have stopped the officer in position 4 of any staff controller being recognised as staff, at some times. Please download the Core objects zip again.
24th December
I updated the prison set so that you can edit how hard it is to escape in SimPe (instructions on the download page). I also provided an alternative Staff Controller for people who just want to hire who they want and have them come to work whenever they want. You have to choose one or the other and get rid of the one you don't want.
23rd December
I have now added the new objects to the School download page, along with some new school types which can be used independently as part of the normal game. There is a week-boarders school where they only come home at weekends, a prep school where they do their homework at school and come home late, and a flexi-school where they bus doesn't come at all and they can be educated at home or not at all. The set continues to be developed.
Both the School and the Prison pages are now accessed via an Institutions page, which also holds the links to the objects which are generally useful in institutions.
Anastasia Renai has made an adapted version of my Please Yourself Plant, that does not make the "Red" motives drop quite as low. This is available on the same page as the original plant, and replaces it, so you have to choose which one you want.
21st December
I have begun my school project, and have some minimally-featured prototype controllers for testing attached to a forum message at http://simlogical.com/SMF/index.php?topic=507.0 if you are interested in giving feedback that might help to shape the project.
Due to feedback about the prison, I am trialling adjustments which would result in escapes becoming less frequent - it was considered by some users that their prisoners were escaping too often. If you have any opinions one way or the other, please speak now or forever hold your peace :D
For those of you who resorted to my Less Autonomy Babycare package when they found Pescado's was not working with NightLife, he has now updated his at http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?topic=2384.msg66835#msg66835 if you would prefer to return to that.
17th December
The prison system is nearing completion. I have updated it with objects to enable you to hire staff and to add a challenge in the form of prisoner escapes and funding for the prison based on welfare, security, and the Governor's ability to make friends and influence people :D
I have updated the Skilling while Reading set of patches with the NightLife fix for portal deletion (thank you for bringing it to my attention, Crammyboy) but sadly for some people this means they are now not suitable for anyone without NightLife. If you had earlier versions and they were not causing you problems, or you are happy to use a portal fixer hack if they do, then there is no need to upgrade.
8th December
In Miscellaneous downloads there is a bookcase that lets your Sims study autonomously. It depends on things like their personality and aspirations whether they decide to study.
17th November
The prison area doors, which I made a special new mesh for, are now available to download as normal non-hacked doors. In the New Meshes section. They carry their own mesh, so you don't have to download the prison doors in order for them to work. And of course like all non-hacked doors they will work with the Security and Clothes changing patches if you have those installed.
I have also made a combination sign and patch for your institutions. If you put this sign on your lot, its presence will stop carpools etc coming and stop any processing of grades etc. On lots where you have not placed the sign, everything will work normally. This is in the Prison section, but it can be used without any of the Prison System installed.
12th November
I have made an outfit-changing door system that works like the Apartment/Security system and uses the same doors, or the optional global patch. You can access this through the Doors download page, near where the various clothes-changing doors are.
11th November
The PY2Plant has been updated with an on/off switch and optional automatic daily once on/off setting
I have created four global game patches to make your game "prison-aware". Two of them are to stop things that require objects up the prisoners' sleeves, such as kicky bags and reading in bed. One is to stop prisoners picking fights with hated officers and one (which I will need feedback on) is supposed to stop prisoners appearing on other lots as game-generated visitors, because of course they are meant to be locked up. The latter works with the "electronic tag" that you put in the prisoners' inventory.
7th November
And now I have made some area doors to go with the new cell doors. These are suitable for a modern prison, as they have narrow glazed panels above and below like a typical institutional or commercial style, as well as heavy D-type handles.
6th November
I have made a set of cell doors based on real life prison doors currently available in the UK. New mesh and colours.
3rd November
The new prison set is ready! You must delete all your old prison objects from your Downloads folder before downloading the new one, and you must buy new ones of everything, including the doors, for your prisons - you must not just let the new objects replace them. The new prison objects are for NightLife and above only. The older prison objects will remain available from a link off the new prison page, for the time being.
18th October
Typical British divan base bed now available, like we make our kids and lodgers sleep on. Three unremarkably dull fabric patterns included in package. Feel free to recolour!
16th October
There are two new global patches. One is to allow all toddlers out of any crib (that means all original cribs and most recolours and remeshes - but not some hacked cribs including my Reservable one). The other patch is an alternative Skilling while Homework, which works more like the Patch A reading skills patch.
13th October
I updated the PYPlant to have an extra option to act on the Sims in one room only.
12th October
Well I must have just been having a bad day yesterday. Today I opened the diagonal 2-tile curtain and immediately spotted why it wasn't working. I've uploaded a zip with both meshes in now!
11th October
I made a two-tile version of the automatic curtain with pelmet. Unfortunately I couldn't get the diagonal working, but you can place this diagonally using the usual cheats.
6th October
The new mesh curtains collection now has another addition. Based on the same two mesh groups as the previous, the difference is that in place of the folded drapes, this has a flat surface to act as a roller blind. You can use the outer box as a lambrequin of any fancy shape just by cutting it to shape with the alpha channel, and make the blind inside go up and down to any height again using its own alpha channel.
I have supplied it with textures suitable for a child's room - remember you can make this floor length and elegant simply by using your paint program.
4th October
I have put together a patch to stop parents peeing themselves and nearly dying of starvation just because a toddler is getting sleepy. It works by removing the autonomous options of putting a child into the crib and bathing them. And they cannot autonomously feed a child until it is quite hungry. Nannies can still work, but they should not be quite so obsessive either. Fuller details are available on the download page.
3rd October
Another new functioning curtain base available. This one has separate meshes for the pelmet and the drapery - both meshes are full length and can be cut to size using the alpha channel to make any combination of open and closed appearances.
2nd October
My cloning policy statement has been updated with a comment to paysite owners and contributors which reads: "Pay Sites: Some of my Sims 2 objects have been made using tools that may have special licence clauses regarding pay sites. It is your responsibility to check that you may offer a particular object on a pay site"
My own attitude continues to be that paysites add to the diversity and choice available to players, and should be respected, but that I am committed to being a contributor within a thriving free content community; "free" meaning free of charge - and free from restrictions other than the exercise of mutual respect.
1st October
I have made a new mesh for the automatic curtains - the ones that use a double mesh to open and close. It's a floor-length mesh that you can shorten by using the alpha channel when you recolour (I have marked on the texture image where you should cut for counter height). When the curtains are open, they use the same amount of fabric as when they are closed, which means the pattern will fold properly and not get squashed up. In spite of this, they come in well below the recommended polygon count of 800 per object.
22nd September
I have made a patch to stop Sims trying to clear plates in restaurants or any community lots. I have tested the patch for safety but not for how it works in every place they can go. Let me know if it's working somewhere you don't think it should work.
6th September.
Due to popular demand, I made the bedwetting patch affect teenage girls as well as boys. I also slightly changed the criteria to include lack of potty training, and created a custom memory, called "Wet the Bed".
4th September
Two new global hacks: One to cut out the ludicrous turnip chatting and paper-cup spinning etc, and one to make children able to wet their beds if their aspirations are low and you forget to send them to the toilet before bed. This also affects teenage boys if they have already got a history of bladder failure and they are too tired to wake up when they want to go. Note: weeing in sleep does not require the bladder to be bursting red full like an accident while awake does!
3rd September
I have upgraded the Security System with an extra access option to exclude keyholders. With this feature, I changed the term "keyholders" to "named" for obvious reasons :D I would also like to take this opportunity to inform everyone that I have discovered that diagonal doors do not work with the system, and currently I do not know how to fix that. If you are experiencing unexpected effects with the system, remove diagonal doors from rooms that have tokens in, or vice versa.
I have made a global patch to remove the need for minimum funds before you're allowed to adopt.
29th August
There is now a new enhanced "Apartment" system, which includes automated switching between access levels. This system can be used to completely replace the 4-key and Targetable doors. It uses the same GUIDs as the old apartment system objects so you must delete those first. If you have been beta testing this system through the forums, you should also delete those and re-download. The system comes with a global patch to make all Maxis doors, and most new door meshes and recolours, work with the system. The patch is optional, as I will also be creating hacked doors to go with the system.
27th August
There was a GUID conflict in my Electric Hob (the one without the oven facilities) so please download that again.
I would very much like to know how you're getting on with the new timed apartment controller trial if you have downloaded it from the forum thread, is anyone having trouble with options not being available on their fridge, or with Sims having obsessive bubble baths?
21st August
I am trialling a combined apartment/targetable/4-keyholder/timed door and controller system. It can be downloaded from http://simlogical.com/SMF/index.php?topic=235.0 If this is successful, it will mean far less space taken up with hacked doors on your hard drive, and less hassle setting up your lots. It also incorporates the extra feature of an emergency lockdown or unlock override for if you want to stop your sims running into fires for example. Do please help me test it if you can.
19th August
I have found out about the cook-type flags and made a version of the gas hob that only allows you to prepare meals that can be cooked on a cooktop. I have also made a ceramic induction hob both with and without oven functions. All these have different names and GUIDs so that you can have all of them in use at the same time.
17th August
The Heirloom Cake. Grow your Sims up whenever you want! (Or send your boring elders to pastures green...) Your Simmies can have their cake and not eat it! Keep it in the family for a birthday any time you choose, no matter how long your Sim thought he had until his next aging opportunity. You will need to turn on aging (i.e. do not use the aging -off cheat on the lot) in order for birthdays to work, but don't worry because this cake has an optional anti-aging process built in. If you choose "Turn aging off" (this is selected by default), the cake will give everyone in the family a day of their life back each midnight, cancelling out the day that is taken off by the game. Visitors may also birthday, if you have Merola's Mind Control Mirror to select them.
16th August
I have posted a tip by HoneyB for how to fix the steel kitchen sink if it looks too bright in your game. The tip and an image for comparison is in the page description for the sink download.
15th August
Thank you to Claudia for reporting a problem with the Family Business Leg Press machine "taking over" the original. This was due to a group conflict rather than a GUID conflict, and I have now uploaded the fixed version.
13th August
New mesh - a gas hob to fit onto any kitchen counter! Oven cooking can be carried out underneath in the kitchen cabinet, and food may be prepared and served on the cooktop (well not really, but the Sim continues to be able to use the counter through the hob!)
10th August
I found out how to make shiny stainless steel, and I have updated the kitchen sink to now have that material. You do not need to download again unless you were disappointed by not having a proper steel sink before. If you have already made recolours they will still work with the updated one. There is now also a left-hand drainer model.
I added a blue stripe recolour for the roller blind.
To the patches page, I have added a patch to stop teenagers running away. They can still hate their carers, but running away is not an option!
9th August
Two little "tweaks". I have updated the no-autonomy fridge so that it will now pick up any recolour made for the Maxis original. And I have changed a line of code in the Apartment Door that might have been causing problems for some people without the University EP.
I have also made a kitchen sink
8th August
I have made my first very own mesh!!! A roller blind. This opens and closes as do the curtains, but the graphics work differently. In this case there are two textures for the object, but only one mesh, and you make the open and closed state using the alpha channel. The mesh I made actually reaches the ground, so if you're feeling like recolouring, by simply using your painting program, you can make this accommodate all window heights.
6th August
The recolourable version of the functioning curtains is now available. Please read the page carefully if you intend to re-use meshes or recolours you made for the earlier version.
I have added a third variation on the ReadingSkills patch. This one also limits interest gain so for each point, the Sim will need to spend a short time engaged in an interest-building activity. All three varieties will continue to be available, but you may only have one installed in your download folder at a time.
2nd August
JWoods, Numenor and I have been working on functioning curtains that open and close automatically morning and night. I have released (on the Miscellaneous page) a version that is working nicely, but is not recolourable without cloning the entire package. There may be a solution to this coming another time.
31st July
I got through a few things this weekend! :D I have made a Coming Home Wachowt door - the coming home doors change your Sims out of work clothes when the come home, and don't let them go outside in underwear or night clothes. There is also now a 4-key door that uses Atavera's barred mesh.
In the Prison section are gender doors which are controlled by the area controllers, and I have updated all area doors with the route-blocking flag - that hack that stops Sims obsessing about things they can't get to through a locked door. I am not 100% sure yet if this works properly without Uni EP, but it shouldn't be any worse than before.
30th July
I made a Pigalle formal change door, which someone requested a long time ago!
26th July
I have made a column hider (works on multi-storey columns too), and there is now a separate page for hider controllers.
22nd July
I have made an alternative slightly more realistic skills-while-reading patch. This one does not allow the sim to actually gain a skill point while reading (unless it's the subject he's studying). Instead it gets him most of the way there and he has to get the point by spending just a little time using a normal skill object. That way not only can the player control which skills he gains, but he also gets the want fulfilment for each point gained, if it was one of his wants.
Using almost the same code, I have made a patch to do the same thing while kids and teens are doing their homework. The rate of gain is slightly faster to reflect the fact they can't spend all that long doing homework, but they still stop just before reaching a whole skill point, so they shouldn't get very high skills without it being ok by you.
18th July
Ploughing through some more outstanding requests... A no autonomous dollhouse smashing global patch, and the Coming Home door as the Matte and Glass double door.
16th July
Two requests filled today - the reservable easel and the 4-key Colonial Arch.
15th July
My DoubleNoKids patch (that stopped children
sleeping in double beds) was not compatible with the new Grand Trianon beds from
the Dream Team at MTS2. I have changed the way it detects what
is a single bed, and so it is now compatible if you would like to redownload.
I will also take this opportunity to say that I am aware that
the global ownership patch for beds - simlogicalReserveBeds_patch2.package does
not work on the Grand Trianon set, and there is nothing that can be done about
that. However, it is alright to keep the patch and it will continue to
work on your other beds.
Another hack clash I am aware of is my reservable desk - the
global patch that goes with it - you should not have both this and Dizzy2's
Homework In Own Bedroom hack installed as they will interfere with each other.
You need to choose between them and delete the loser! :D If
you have not had good results with the reservable desk, then Dizzy2's seems
worth a try - get it from
http://forums.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=75476
14th July
The first "school" objects have been added to the site, on their own page. There is a table, and a workbook. The table makes a workbook for the child or teen of your choice, and then doing the work raises their school grades, as well as the various want-fulfilments that homework usually offers. I haven't started the overall controllers yet, but you can already have a sort of little school if you use the teleporter to bring neighbour kiddies over and provide tables for them.
10th July
I made a 4-key version of the Wachowt door, to fill a request.
4th July
In the Sims 2 Miscellaneous Objects section, there is a hydrangea shrub with a fake menu that shows you how long each Sim on your lot has left in his or her current age stage. The menu pops up containing these details, but nothing happens if you click on it.
22nd June
Two requests have been filled today - a global patch and an object.
The object is a Tree Hider, so if your house is surrounded by trees and you can't see in, you can make them vanish when you need a clearer view. The same object (a computer CD) will bring them back on demand.
The patch stops Elders waking up in the night just because they have their energy green. They will wake up at 6am like younger adults. My Sleep Later patch also allows elders to sleep on, but this was made for someone who wanted them up at 6am not somewhere between 7-10am. You will need to choose between the two, having both will confuse the game no end!
20th June
Excellent news - I finally worked out how the Myne Dorm door stops other Sims wanting the stuff in a locked dorm. I have now applied this fix to the Walnut Apartment door and all my 4 key doors. Other restricting doors will be updated later.
19th June
I have updated my hacked Numenor glass doors to use Numenor's new "Standard" mesh, which no longer needs the edited transparent walls. The GUID is the same, but his mesh name changed - ***so it is essential to install his new door and my new file at the same time*** - following his instructions for deleting his earlier meshes.
There is also a set of gym machines hacked for use as in a family business. They charge 50 Simoleans per use.
17th June
Today I have created a global hack to make the most of your Sim's time while he is reading, either on the bed, from the bookcase, or studying a subject. Very gradually, points add up onto each skill and interest as they read. Rate of gain can be adjusted if feedback says it is not set right.
I have also made an alternative painting easel which may not be used autonomously. This stops your Sim leaving a half-finished painting on every easel in the house just to be awkward!
15th June
The student-only door is intended for use in dormitory houses, to stop your invited guests from the home neighbourhood escaping into the inaccessible dorms of game-generated students. Use one of these doors to close off the corridor to the bedrooms. When locked, allows only Young Adults and NPCs to pass in one direction while allowing anyone back out in the other direction so that they can't get trapped. I have also made two recolours for it, so you can match the timber of the Myne door.
12th June
I finally got round to the requested white changing table! Also by request I have made a Bevelled Glass version of the Pay/Clothes door, and a Moroccan version of the Coming Home door.
I have updated the Sponge Bathing patch so that it is no longer available to visitors, and so that there is more of a difference in attractiveness between a sponge bath and a shower. I felt my Sims were using the kitchen sink too often when there were perfectly good bathrooms available :)
7th June
I have made the cheap stove and cheap counter into apartment objects.
Thanks to a suggestion at Variousimmers by Lindalane, I have been experimenting with a combination of the Myne (dorm) door and the apartment system. The advantage of the "Myne" door in normal play is that once it is claimed and locked, the other Sims completely stop thinking about objects the other side of it - which is ideal for apartments, as you don't need to stick to using apartment objects. I have tried to adapt the Myne door to work with the apartment system tokens.
Before claiming and locking, the door acts like a normal apartment system door, except that it's only locked from one direction (ie you need to put it the right way round). After claiming and locking - by anyone, not necessarily the apartment owner - the Sims who do not own the apartment usually stop thinking about the objects behind the door. This aspect doesn't always work and I don't know why yet. I would love to hear from anyone trying it out what they have noticed about when it is or is not likely to work.
3rd June
The prototype Sims 2 Apartment System is now available for testing. It's a fairly safe hack, but I have decided to give it Beta status in case feedback tells me it wants tweaking to work a little differently or something like that. Until these few starter objects have been shown to work in a way that makes the game enjoyable, I don't want to churn out loads of things that will all need changing.
For anyone who doesn't know what an apartment system is, it's a collection of hacked objects and controllers that help your Sims to understand that they have to occupy certain rooms and use certain things on their lot, while leaving other Sims' stuff alone. It does not divide up their bills or household funds.
And as per a request, I have made a white bedding set for the crib, which also works on my reservable crib.
24th May
I have made a global patch for sinks that allows player-directed sponge bathing at any time for teens and older. Also they won't have to wait until they are quite so disgusting before choosing it autonomously. In tests, Sims still preferred to use a shower if it was available and free. Simlogical prison in-cell sinks are independent of this patch.
20th May
Three more 4-key doors, by request:- Colonial Tract front door, Matte & Glass double door, Wrought Weiler iron gate.
15th May
I have made a reservable "cheap" desk which you can download by itself. After assigning, other Sims may not put anything down on the desk. However, what I really had in mind was to get kids putting their homework on their own desk. To achieve this, you will also need to download the small homework patch that is available as a separate file from a link in the desk's online description. Once the patch is installed, lots that do not have reservable desks will have homework placement functioning as normal. Where there is a reserved desk but it has something else on it, the kid will usually put their homework on the floor near their desk.
13th May
Some people told me that the No Balloons patch was not always getting rid of the plumbobs. I added an extra package file to the zip which is a CD-ROM you place somewhere discreet on your lot and it checks for plumbobs every few minutes and makes them hidden. It will be in your Buy catalogue under Misc/All
12th May
Just a bugfix to the Coming-home Pigalle door. There was an error that stopped the extra colours choices on the original door being usable.
8th May
The pinball and arcade games for the "Family Business" system have now been added.
I have revised my global reservable beds patch, so that it no longer shares a setting that the bed uses for something else (I had no choice when I first made the patch as the tools such as SimPe were not complete at that time). At the same time, I have also updated all my reservable and prison beds so that they are independent of the patch - ie the patch will work on all non-hacked beds, but the hacked beds will ignore it. If you decide to download the patch, it will be a good idea to also update any reservable or prison beds you happen to have. For those of you not familiar with a reservable beds patch, it makes *all* original and new-mesh beds potentially assignable to one Sim, thereby increasing your choice of styles.
6th May
The commercial glass and metal double doors have been added as a prison area security door. I have added an option to the Institutional Servery to make it "Prisoners only". I have fixed a small bug in the Please Yourself 2 Plant where the setting "Bladder dynamic" had not been working.
Also, apologies for forgetting to post this news earlier, but in the doors section there is now a door you can choose for each side separately what a Sim pays to go through it, and what type of outfit they should change into. This is the ultimate in clothes-change doors! If it's popular I will make other styles of door available.
28th April
Now you can use real barred doors and walls in your prisons! Read the descriptions by the download "tile" carefully, because you need to know where to get the door mesh and modified wall from.
27th April
I finally managed to make that wretched no-care shrubs patch!!! I've taken virtually everything from the shrubglobals into my patch, so think about what other gardening hacks you are already enjoying before downloading this, as it might clash with them. If in doubt ask the creator of your other hacks if they used anything from shrubglobals, and if they did then don't use them both.
I also did a painting version of the Teleporter Plus. Not everyone likes hydrangeas - some people prefer still life paintings...
26th April
Numenor who posted a wonderful collection of full glass wall doors and windows on Mod The Sims 2, kindly gave me permission to use his door as a base for some hacks. I have therefore made a prison cell door, a prison area security door, a 4-key door and a bathroom door from it. You MUST have Numenor's original door for my hacks to work, as I have not included the mesh or materials in the files. There is a link to Numenor's download thread with each of my clones.
Now I want to clear up some possible confusion that might have been caused by Phedge at Variousimmers, in his No Mid Stream Stop potty hack thread. My no-empty pot hack was incompatible with his hack, and I said it would be fine if he included some of my code in his hack so that it would also have the no-empty feature, as users would not otherwise be able to have both. Due to a misunderstanding he actually rewrote my original patch and it's being offered there as if it was the simlogical patch, which of course it is not any more since being rewritten by someone else. The version on my site is still incompatible with the no-midstream-stop hack and of course I cannot offer support with Phedge's version!
25th April
For your small business Sims, I now have a customer generator - basically an automated teleporter. This will bring Sims to your lot, between times you choose, pre-greeted, ready to use your pay objects and generally act like customers.
23rd April
I've made a Bathroom door for Sims 2 like the one I did for Sims 1. That means it locks behind a Sim when they go in and they can have some peace. The door also prevents toddlers crawling in, but allows them out after they were carried them in for a bath or something.
21st April
I have added automation to the main Prison Controller now, made the cell doors change prisoners out of their pyjamas when leaving the cell, and slightly updated some other of the prison files. It is clearly labelled on the page which files have been updated. I have also generally tidied up the whole prison page, added clearer instructions, and have removed "risky object" status - i.e. there have been no reports of problems with it in the few weeks it has been available.
16th April
As promised, timed automation has now been added to the prison Area Controller and Institutional Servery. Main controller automation coming soon - I thought I'd release stuff as I completed it rather than keep everyone waiting until I finished everything.
15th April
For Simmie parents who want the privacy of their room to themselves, but want to wake up if their baby needs them, there is now a two-part baby alarm. Put the transmitter in the baby's room and the receiver in the parents' room, and they'll wake up when the baby cries. Also useful to wake up older children in time for school, if you put the transmitter near a stereo or TV and a receiver in each of the children's rooms. When it's time to get up, turn on the TV!
13th April
Two new doors and an updated old door by request. The Family Door has been updated to include more colours. There is a new "Pool Door" that changes Sims into swimwear one way, back to normal the other. The VIP style door has been added to the collection of HomeComing doors.
8th April
In the prison section of Sims 2, with many thanks to Atavera for the new mesh, there is now an institutional food servery that produces plates of revolting mush for your prisoners to enjoy. At present you can toggle instantly between open and closed, and in the near future some timed automation should be added.
6th April
On the Sims 2 Global Patches page is a complete replacement for the Disease Controller. This hack stops most of the processing of illness including food poisoning and pregnancy morning sickness. If you have a Sim already sick when you install the patch, they will stop having symptoms. For some Sims you may get a message pop up after some time saying they are well again. Other Sims may remain infected and may continue their illness after you remove the patch. (NB This will almost certainly interfere with the action of any other download you have that affects illness or immunity. I don't expect that such a clash would result in serious loss of game data, but it's always best to be cautious and back up your favourite neighbourhoods when using hacks.)
3rd April
Newest creations at simlogical are a one-way only archway - pull it so the placement arrow faces the way you want Sims to go through it - and a global patch that stops kids (not teens) sleeping in double beds. This latter could be useful for people who don't want to stick to just reservable beds. The patch can sit in the game alongside the reservable beds; they won't interfere with each other except that kids won't be able to sleep in double beds even if you allocate one to them.
26th March
I have finally got round to making the door and controller for the Sims 2 prison that lets you designate whole rooms as out of bounds. Popularly called the "inter-wing" door, you don't need to set anything on the door, it detects what is set up on the area (room) controller.
25th March
Some of you may remember from TS1 the Party Plant and the Please Yourself Plant? Well I have rolled all those into one, with the PY2Plant for Sims 2. I have not this time included the autonomy option as it proved to be occasionally problematic in Sims1, but I do intend to explore selective autonomy on a future object.
22nd March
I have made a load more 4-key doors for you today. Three different open doorways, two double doors, and a picket gate.
21st March
To the "pay" range I have added a buffet table, also enabled for community lots. Your current in-play family will earn 20 Simloleans for each serving taken by a visitor. I only tested with Uni, but I believe it will probably work without. If it does please let me know and I will add the "2" sticker.
18th March
Well here are two objects, neither of which is a hydrangea... One is a toilet that visitors have to pay to use. Well it adds to the current family's funds but doesn't really cost the visitor anything. Made extra attractive, and no throw up or play options. The other object is a sort of "helper" for the toilet - a fountain that rapidly fills the bladder of any visitor in the same space as it. You can reckon on your visitors needing the toilet at least once every two hours - or once an hour if you put in two fountains... Finally make money just having parties!
17th March
I hope everyone enjoys hydrangreas, because I have made you a new one. This one has a menu that allows you to set a flag on your furnishings that marks them to stay behind when your family moves out. There is the reverse option too in case you change your mind. Read the instructions on the download page.
16th March
This update comes to you courtesy of two creators from http://www.variousimmers.net/ - not me at all lol! Rentechd very kindly fixed the candystripe crib and curtain recolours so they work with the EP, and JMPescado fixed the homecoming doors so the Sims change out of work clothes. Many thanks to both!
14th March
What with the latest security loophole in forum software and that the site my current forums are hosted on not facilitating upgrading, and shortage of time to learn to keep doing these admin tasks manually....
And that the mailing list, while a nice way to keep in touch socially is not a good way to handle support queries or keep track of requests...
Well I have opened a suite of forums at Variousimmers.net, which is a site hosting a small group of simmers and creators. Even if you don’t feel the need to use my forums, it’s well worth going over and taking a look at the things the others are making. You do not need to register in order to read and download. Site owners who have been posting their updates on the simlogical forums will be able to post their updates in the community areas at the new forums, and there are also general gameplay support and social areas.
I will be winding up my current forums towards the end of the week.
27th February
I have uploaded 3 versions of my new "coming home" door. This door changes Sims into casual when going into the house wearing anything other than formal (e.g. work or swimwear). When going out of the house, the Sim is changed into normal outfit if he is wearing underwear or pyjamas. Comes with all original colours but will not automatically pick up user recolours. Does not work on diagonal or after being moved to and from diagonal.
21st February
I have made two "formal" doors, the Moroccan and the Bevelled Glass. These change Simmies into their formal wear as they walk through. Useful for restaurants, dinner parties etc.
19th February
Atavera very kindly made an institutional bed mesh, especially at my request, to look good in a prison. There are a top bunk, bottom bunk, and standalone single bed all matching. As a file including a new mesh is rather large, I have included a Reservable bed with each one, so with each .package file you will get two new beds in your catalogue!
13th February
You can now feed your prisoners in their cells. The revised Prisoner Token creates a special meal based on the "instant meal". This can be done for one prisoner by their token's menu, or prison-wide from the main controller. Read the update news on the Prison page to find out more.
12th February
I have added to the prison set a shower, a single bed and a specially re-meshed upper bunk bed that can fit over the lower bed! It looks real and the prisoners can use it! All hacked to "in-cell" standards.
6th February
In the prison set I have improved the in-cell toilet to allow communal use, and added a sink that works on the same principles. I fixed a small bug on the controller that used to reset it when you loaded the game. There is a new staff controller that names who has keys to the cell doors.
3rd February
For Sims 2, there is a patch for the buffet so after filling it, it stays full and fresh until the Sim clears it away.
31st January
Just a little update today - a Sims 2 bottomless feeding bottle. Does not empty, does not spoil, clears up any normal bottles when they spoil. Buyable from catalogue
30th January
I have updated the prison set. There is now an in-cell toilet - no shooing, use by cell owners only, and I fixed the cell door so people who don't belong in the cell can get out, and NPCs can get in. Later I will add special passes for warders.
29th January 2005
The reservable crib has been updated, firstly by Numenor editing it so that it will automatically pick up any user recolour that is made for the original crib, and secondly to allow a choice of levels of "imprisonment" for the child. You can choose between any toddler being able to climb out, only get out when adult lets them out, or not being allowed to be got out at all. Useful for if you have a child-obsessed sim who should be doing other things.
The enclosureless shower kit by Wes_H that has been on beta test on MTS2 for some time is now permanently accommodated on simlogical, as well as the no-privacy hacked version I did of it.
And a couple of rather useless objects - a decorative-only mailbox and pork chop meal. They were requests, don't ask me :)
24th January
I uploaded the no-attention flowerbed patch to the Sims 2 section today. This will affect all the flowerbeds in your game, and makes the plants decorative only.
I have started building the prison system for TS2. Many of you will have played with the TS1 version. It has its own page, where you will find hopefully all the information you need about it. It's very much in testing stages though, bear in mind.
19th February
We now have forums again. I am sorry that I was unable to save the messages or membership data from the old forums. If it had been a good hosting company they could have worked with me to transfer them, but then that's why I left them in the first place. Anyway, the forums are now on a well-established company's servers, and hopefully they can be there indefinitely. Get there from the FORUM tab, or http://simlogical.info/phpbb2/index.php
18th January
I have added matching curtains to my candy stripe crib covers and I have now written the tutorial to show how to make user recolours available for 3rd party cloned objects. It requires using SimPe. There are links to the tutorial on the Advice page and on the Hacked Objects page with the Reservable Crib description.
I have also created TeleporterPLUS which is the teleporter shrub with added options to move Sims in, or out to Town, and to adopt your chosen children and teenagers. It also allows you to have unwanted children put up for adoption. It's been tested for a while, but it's a powerful object that will allow you to do something silly if you really want to, so use with care.
12th January
I have now uploaded the reservable crib that has been a trouble to me for some time! All the original frames and bedding are available on the object, and soon I shall be uploading some extra bedding and a tutorial about how to make other user-made bedding available for this object.
9th January
There is a new set of floors for The Sims 2, which are in bright colours and have pictures of toys on them. These are suitable for making a nursery floor or play mats.
I have also made a controller that will hide or unhide all your ceiling lights via its menu. Those ceiling lights do get in the way, don't they?
7th January
The forums are now closed, and you can use the TALK link on the menu bar to get to the Yahoo Group. Over the next few days, simlogical.com should begin to resolve to the new website. If you have problems connecting during that time, you should be able to get there direct using http://www.simlogical.info
5th January
I have made a whole set of floors based on a black and white check, that you can fit together to make a room or corridor with matching border tiles. You can also make some innovative patterns. I have rearranged the Sims 2 Decor section to make room for the expanding selection of walls and floors.
In the global patches section is a package that should prevent all napping on chairs, sofas and recliners.
2nd January
Today's updates are a global patch to stop sims kicking over the trashcan. It was one of my personal hates, so I had to do it for myself anyway :) I have also revisited the reservable beds to add all the code sections needed to give them all their whole range of original frames and bedcovers. However I still don't get the full set of frames for the expensive double bed, and some of you may continue to get similar problems with that particular bed. I don't know if it's some other hack we've accidentally downloaded or something clashing with it.
1st January 2005
For all the little Simmies who want a wet-room instead of a bathroom with mis-matching shower, here is the solution in the shape of an invisible shower! One day we'll be able to make frameless showers with nice modern shower heads, but in the meantime a completely invisible one is the next best thing. The shower is zipped with a controller/drainhole so you can toggle the shower between visible (necessary if you want to move it) and invisible at any time, and to keep any puddling drained away.
31st December
In about one week, the simlogical forums will be closing.
I have taken web space with a new host, due to unreliability of my old host over
a period of time. Although they also offer forum facilities, it has proven
impractical to transfer all the messages and memberships. We could just start
all over again at the new site, but if I had to move again it would be the same
old trouble all over again.
The message rate these days is not high, so I think it would be appropriate
therefore if we returned to using the
Sim
Logics Yahoo Group for requests, bug reports and general sociability. People
who prefer not to join the Yahoo system will of course be welcome to mail me
direct about anything, the same as they always could.
I will open the Yahoo group for member postings in about one week, and I will
begin to use the Special Notice setting for sending out update news. Therefore
anyone who does not want to receive posts from members will have time to change
their membership email settings to receive special notices only.
30th December
There is a global patch that affects all original beds and most user-made beds, which will allow your sims to sleep later in the mornings, depending how lazy they are. Things like full bladders and alarm clocks will still wake them though.
The crib patch (see below) has been altered as some players were experiencing glitches if the parent was told to wake a toddler in the night. I just changed the order in which things were tested.
28th December
I have made a Sims 2 global patch for the crib to make toddlers stay asleep all night under most circumstances. They may still wake up if they are extremely hungry or if something wakes them, but they won't wake up at night just because their energy bar is full. Remember to back up your game data before using any hacked files, especially global patches.
26th December
To the Decor page, I have added some kitchen walls in two traditional-looking wallpaper patterns. Each design comes in a half-tiled version for behind units, and a fully papered version with skirting board for the seating area. You can mix both in one room and they will line up properly. There is also a fully tiled wall and floor.
25th December
I have made a beveled glazed door version of the 4-key and Targetable doors and a Reservable "loft" single bed (the one with the weird canopy). Both come with their original set of colours.
24th December
There is now a small collection of mosaic bathroom walls and floors made in HomeCrafter for TS2
I have neatened up the Sims 2 section a bit, separating out the types of download as well as formatting the pages more nicely.
23rd December
You're probably wondering why I haven't been keeping this news updated, seeing as simlogical has been up and down like a yo-yo lately and so something must have been worthy of reporting.... Well basically it has not been up long enough at a time for me to actually update the news, let alone add any downloads!
What's supposed to have been happening is that the company I get my hosting from had been getting poor service from the people they bought their space from. They have now moved their customers, including me, to space elsewhere that they hope will be more reliable.
Unfortunately in the move some things got set up differently - actually they are *correctly* set up now! However, the forum was set up with those original wrong settings, and I have had to restore from a backup dated 12th December. That means anyone joining after that date will have to re-register, and any messages posted since that date have been lost.
12th December
The reservable expensive beds I uploaded yesterday had a fault in them that would have stopped their menus showing properly unless you also had the cheap reservable beds. Please re-download the fixed versions if necessary.
11th December
I have made reservable beds out of the expensive single and double beds. The single kindly decided to clone with its full range of covers and frames, but the double still stubbornly only offers the alternative covers.
There is also a package containing the global age-stage length BCON isolated for anyone who wishes to experiment with editing it to make age stages last different lengths of time. This is a starting point for experimenters and risk-takers only.
5th December
Apologies for the downtime yesterday. My host service has informed me this was due to hardware failure. I hope the new hardware will mean the service will be a little more stable than it had been becoming.
2nd December
A range of targetable doors has now been added for TS2. These allow Sims to pass through by type - such as females, teens etc
21st November
3 more styles of 4-key doors available. Now you can use any of the 19 colours on any of the doors, but not all the colours look right on all the doors, so it's up to you to pick wisely from the range of colours that pops up when you go to place one.
20th November
I have made a double and a single assignable bed, with the full range of bedcovers each, but only one frame colour. These should be used instead of the reservable bed patch I made earlier, not at the same time. It shouldn't destroy your game or anything but the two lots of code will be fighting against each other. Using these beds (without the patch) will mean your other beds will act like they were meant to originally. I always recommend using separate buyable objects rather than global patches where possible.
18th November 2004
There is now a separate section under its own tab for TS2
16th November
Please could everyone who downloaded the Freedom door please delete it from their disks. Not only is it now obsolete because the 4-key door behaves exactly the same when unlocked, but I accidentally duplicated a couple of GUIDs on the freedom door, which will cause problems with your other downloads.
Also I have now discovered that the Family Only door had the same wrong GUIDs... In my defence I think they were both made at a time when SimPe had an error that stopped some things being saved properly, but I still could have double checked after I finished editing, so I apologise for any inconvenience. A new file with the correct GUIDs has now been uploaded if you'd like to replace it.
14th November
The teleporter has been updated to make it non-autonomous, immediately executed, reduced to $1 and added an option to vaporise all non-residents in one go.
13th November
On the Sims2 page, there is now a teleporter that allows you to summon to the lot any Sim in the neighbourhood. It's made from the fruit painting.
10th November
The 4-key door has now been finalised and allows the choice of keyholder from a menu of Sims' names (they have to be on the lot at the time of allocation, but they can keep the key as they come and go). The menu also indicates who holds the current keys.
8th November
4-keyholder door with menu-driven key assignment and NOW IN ALL 5 ORIGINAL COLOURS!! I finally found out how to do the colours, thanks to instructions from Merola64
4th November
In The Sims 2 section I have added a stainless steel fridge that the Sims cannot use of their own accord. This means you keep control over when they cook and whether for themselves or for everyone.
3rd November
I have added some more doors - one for two keyholders - useful for master bedrooms, one for family-only which also works on community lots, and a door that does no checking at all, so anyone can go through it including ungreeted visitors.
1st November 2004
There are now some locking doors on the Sims 2 page
31st October
Updated the no-empty potty patch. It wasn't working reliably (but it wasn't anything that could have spoilt your game data). What a lot there still is to learn about this game :D
30th October
I have closed the no-welfare patch loophole, and I believe that now you will not lose your kids under any circumstances (except kidnappings of course). I have also made a patch so that todders' potties do not need emptying.
29th October
In the Sims 2 section there is now a global patch to make all your fridges restock themselves at midnight.
28th October
On the new Sims 2 page, there are two new files. One to stop the social worker taking away your kids, and one to make beds reservable.
I have started a page (not a whole section yet) for Sims 2 hacks. This is accessible via the main Downloads page.
1st October
I have made the red cafe door into a high fashion door, and made a formal door out of that restaurant curved window door thingy whatever it's called. I have made these load regardless of EP (I have also gone back and fixed the formal cafe door to do the same) but of course they can only access outfits that you have in your EPs.
26th September
Two days sooner than predicted, I have decided I'll get more fun out of Sims2 once we can make new stuff for it, so I'm in business on Sims1 again. To prove it, I have made a "formal outfit" cafe door that someone wanted. In the doors section, near the bottom.
14th September
The "clutter" objects for the wall units have now been trimmed properly so they will look right on any colour of full height wall unit.
13th September
The "other" corner corner unit is now finished and with the space saving set. That's for rooms with a sticking-in corner, or you can use it at the end of a run. It was an awkward shape to make and I apologise that it doesn't line up as well as the others in side and back views.
12th September
I have made a wood grain and a white top box for the space saving bedroom. These can be used over low units, or especially as bridging units over normal beds to continue that fitted look instead of having to leave a gap.
11th September
The space-saving sink was not working properly due to a change in footprint. I've now fixed that. I have also done the promised z-buffer tidying all in one day which is quicker than I predicted, so if you've not been happy with any bleeding, come and download again. Do please let me know if you spot anything else wrong.
I have also made a 9-tile season change rug with snow in winter, leaves in autumn and invisible in other seasons.
For the space-saving set I have now added a wash basin and upper-level vanity mirror in both colours. The mirror unit will go above any lower level unit and offers teeth cleaning and charisma practice.
Over the next few days I will be tidying some bleeding I have noticed still in some of the objects in this set. If you have noticed any bleeding in the objects you have downloaded, check back in about a week to see if I have put a dated note against the object to say I have fixed it. It's not major enough to bother issuing a news notice for each one.
9th September
I have now tidied up the alpha sprites to the split-level objects in the wood-grain wall unit range. I have also corrected a handful of coordinate problems on both wall unit TVs notified to me by Peter Connors - thank you very much for that (-:
8th September
I have now finished and uploaded the white versions of the wall unit stereo, TV, high dresser, low dresser, high bookcase, low bookcase and normal bookcase. I also found the tops and bottoms were not lining up properly in smaller zooms, so I changed the alpha sprites on those and the chest of drawers which I had done previously. That applies to the white versions only, and I will go back later and look at the wood-grain ones.
5th September
I have made two new objects in the wall unit range. One is a TV and the other a Hi Fi. Both close automatically when they are turned off. The special space-saving feature is that the TV cabinet has been made to sit on the same tile as another object, meaning it can appear to sit on top of the hi-fi unit or the chest of drawers. Other half-height objects are planned. Possible EP incompatibilities - I can't test on anything but MM so please read the details before downloading and let me know.
Another *four* objects for the wall units - upper and lower bookcases, and upper and lower dressers. Upper objects can be placed on same tile as lower ones so that they look as if they are a combination unit. White versions of the latest items planned for the coming week.
4th September
To the season-change range I have added a ground-cover rug that does leaves in autumn. It also has the snow in winter.
3rd September
I've just done most of the wall units in a plain white version. They're all on the same page.
31st August
I have uploaded the desks in the fitted bedroom set again as they needed fixing to stop pets walking through them!! I have also added a matching non-hacked chair so you can use it instead of the space-saving one if that wasn't working in the situation you wanted it to.
29th August
If you have had problems using the prison system because it seems like your prison controller is not doing the lockups when it should - or you think it is resetting a lot and forgetting the times you told it - you may be able to fix this by making sure you have *both* styles of cell door and *both* styles of inter-wing door downloaded and in your downloads folder even if you don't actually use one of the styles.
28th August
The fitted bedroom furniture is finally finished, although I am still hoping to improve the fold-down desk and chair a little in the future. Look for a link to them in Downloads/Miscellaneous.
20th August
I have fixed a bug in the cheque system which was bad enough to stop invoices working, and have now finally found a *decent* cashbox, thanks to Wolfie from Blue Star Sims who lent me hers. Please redownload.
Simlogical has just won the Sim a Little Dream a Lot best hack site award for August. This is a special honour for me, because the site owner Deedee is one of the most gifted object creators I can think of! Thank you Deedee! :)
18th August
With special permission I have created an apartment version of the Around The Sims pile of books which is now on the Misc page of the Apartments section.
In Miscellaneous downloads there is an armchair to match the really horrible cheap original yellow striped sofas, and an invisible counter that fits on the same tile as anything else, which means many things can be used for food preparation surfaces.
In Beta, I have updated the payments system so the object looks like a cash box instead of a pig. I have added invoices, and made it so that money shows over the Sims head when they draw cheques or write invoices so you know something has happened.
15th August
In Apartments, the cheap red dining chair and the grey office chair. Also the Superstar wall-mounted TV and the original expensive stereo. In Miscellaneous, a non-hacked chair made specially to match the original white leather loveseat, and one to go with the original blue stripy sofas
I'd very much appreciate any feedback on the "pay" computer in the Beta section. Thank you (-:
14th August
For Apartments I have made the plain blue original loveseat and sofa, and I have created a matching armchair as there was not one originally.
In Miscellaneous there is a sofa that can be allocated to one neighbour for napping on and you get money per night while it is reserved. This was made for an individual request and I thought I might as well share it anyway!
The payment system in Beta has been updated so Give Gift.../50 Simolean Cheque now appears as expected in the other Sim's menu. I have recoloured the pig so it won't get confused with C&C's piggy bank. I have also cloned the Event Control computer and its controller to make a money earning version. Read more on the Beta page.
13th August
The white dishwasher in Apartments was faulty and other Sims were still trying to use it. Now fixed. There is a set of spiral stairs for apartments too - required Unleashed.
In Beta, there is a buyable baby with special "upbringing" features. You can read more details on the Beta page. If this works well for people I plan to make an apartment version, as babies are one of the worst things for getting the neighbours obsessed!
11th August
There is a new system just gone into Beta test. It enables payments to be made between Sims that can be cashed when the recipient gets home. This is a step on the way to allowing Sims to earn money as staff at another Sim's prison or event-controlled computer centre etc.
10th August
Latest objects are a flight of straight stairs in the Apartments section, a Reservable guitar that Sims in other rooms cannot hear (they don't go mad trying to come and watch it), and I have done a non-apartment version of the salt and pepper shaker fridge, in Miscellaneous.
7th August
In the Apartments section, for people who can't find a fridge to go with their kitchens, I have made something that will let you pretend you have an integrated fridge behind the door of one of your counters. It looks like a pair of chrome salt and pepper shakers and is made to sit on the same tile as any other object, so it ends up looking like they are standing at the back of your counter. Your Sims may still use the counter in the normal way.
Will webmasters and object creators please check my new links page and check that the information about your objects is accurate, complete and that I haven't missed you out. Mail me with any corrections. Also please mail me your 88x31 link button if I haven't got it. Please note I am only including relevant links - i.e. sites with objects that are connected in some way to simlogical objects or themes.
5th August
Some more objects adapted for apartments: The original cheap and moderate counters, plus an invisible one that can go on the same tile as another object to turn it into a counter! The portable stereo and TV, microwave, white dishwasher, trashcan, and last but not least the small counter-height fridge from Scooby Sims!
1st August
In the Apartments section, there is a pedestal washbasin that doesn't allow dish washing, and the cheap toilet with the "simlogical" privacy and urgency hacks. Also a bookcase and piano.
I have made a zapper sign for males and females, and a "Stay changed" plant that only affects Sims in the same room. All by request.
The apartment walnut door had a small bug that would probably have caused a Sim to drop anything they were carrying if they weren't allowed through the door. It's worth downloading it again.
The apartment door patch and tutorial is back online with further guidance for doors that do not respond to the simple portal function test.
31st July
Loads more apartment objects. I've taken the apartment door patch and tutorial offline for a revision, as the advice wasn't sufficient for all doors. If you have patched a door and it doesn't seem to be working, just wait for the revised patch.
29th July
You all must have been thinking I'd retired from hacking or something with this long gap! In fact I have been working on a new system for making smooth-running apartment buildings, inspired by the recently-formed Yahoo group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/simapartments/
The system comprises hideable room tokens which can be grouped together into numbered apartments, and a collection of objects, including doors, that can talk to the tokens to find out whose apartment they are in. Using the overall lot controller for the system, you can easily throw an apartment open for a party, or make it totally out of bounds even to its owners. Look in the special Apartments section under Downloads.
11th July
In the Enforceable section, I have added a standing square so that you can send a Sim to stand there and do nothing.
I have updated the omnipotent bathmats by removing the option to read a story from them. Sims with good literary skills were bombarding the screen with the rug description!
6th July
In the Doors section is now a door that admits NPCs only, and looks like a solid wall when walls are up. You can wallpaper it the same as the rest of the room. I've also made a pink version of the bathmat
And in the latest run of good luck, Simlogical has scooped no fewer than three Simmie awards this season! :D
4th July
Improved Hospital bed now tested and out of Beta. Also the interconnected fire alarms were occasionally choosing a pet to be the fire warden - this is now fixed.
3rd July
The No Tradesmen sign was not working correctly for people with certain combinations of EP. This was due to a bit of silliness in the Maxis code, but anyway I have written it slightly differently now to get round that. Please download again if you have not got either SuperStar or Makin' Magic and it hasn't been working properly.
People have been reporting strange visitations to their hospitals when non-neighbour patients are admitted, and I have changed the way the bed decides who the patient should be visited by. Or at least I think I have, so the new bed is in the Beta section. Please follow instructions on that page. At this stage I would prefer it if the new bed was only tested by people who have already been playing with the hospital set, and please take a few moments to let me know how it goes.
In Miscellaneous, there is a decorative-only cash register for any type of lot and any EP, and there is also a bath mat that will automatically dry up floods anywhere on the lot.
I have rearranged the download pages slightly. Miscellaneous was getting too full, so I have given the zapper signs their own page, and anything to do with outfit changing including the single-tile dressers now have their own page too.
2nd July
It's all good news lately! Simlogical has won the Calisims Award for Excellence. California Simmin' is my favourite story site, and since finding it I haven't missed reading a single weekly update. If you haven't been there before I recommend you hop right over and take a look!
27th June
Upon request I have made a motive-filling version of the green portable toilet. It's in the Motives section and still needs HouseParty like the original.
21st June
I have added Bathroom versions of the Hospital and Prison doors (the ones with a window and blind) to the Doors page. I have made a no-adults sign and a no-visitors sign, in Miscellaneous. These also work on locations. Please read the "Read more..." link against these items so you don't get confused about exactly what they're doing when you start using them, as they spare certain Sims.
Thank you to everyone who voted for simlogical - we won the Sim Moms "Best Free Site" award for June! :D
12th June
I was trying to make a request for a Targetable toilet stall but it kept making the game crash. So I have made a set of pre-targeted ones - male, female, women, men, boys, girls. They are in the Objects with Restrictions section.
There is also a Reservable counter-top hand basin that does not allow washing dishes.
5th June
In Miscellaneous there is another clothes-change plant. This one changes the Sims on the lot to your chosen outfit type on an ongoing basis so new arrivals will be dressed the same the the Sims already there. There is also a menu option to "Stop effect" when they are free to choose their own outfits. There was a small bug in the yellow clothes change violet and I took this opportunity to get it right in both these objects.
1st June
Simlogical has been nominated for Best Free Site at Sim Moms. If you like this site, please go to http://p074.ezboard.com/fphyscomomsfromhellfrm55 to vote, or click on the squirrel!
29th May
There was a long-standing bug in the Targetable (not the Ultimately Targetable) doors that would have made the Set to Me Only setting behave erratically. If this has been an irritation for you, download again. But it's not important otherwise.
28th May
The season-change rosebush file had become corrupt and lost its GUID between being tested and being uploaded. This might have caused all sorts of weird effects in your game, so please redownload. My apologies for any inconvenience.
23rd May
In Season-change there is now a set of pool objects. There is a pool cover which is off in Summer, blue tarpaulin in Spring and Autumn, with snow in winter. There are also base and coloured versions of the steps, the diving board, and the slide, all of which may only be used in Summer so that Sims don't swim when the pool cover is on! (-: Also added the larger version of the snow rug everyone was asking for.
22nd May
I felt like doing a bit on non-hacking graphics work for a change, so I made a set of 4 rugs that can build into a chequered tiled floor complete with edging tiles - traditional style. You can do any size or shape of room with them, including convex corners, except they don't handle diagonal walls. In Miscellaneous for now, though I might make a special section if I decide to do any more.
The season-change base ground tile has been updated to allow it on water and on pools.
14th May
I've been too busy playing with BodyShop to make any new objects lately, but to keep the website ticking over, ooie63 has made a rosebush season-change base for us (-:
9th May
Ooie63 has produced a very colourful painted version of her season-change flamingo for us!
8th May
Some roof gable pieces in the season-change section. Many thanks to Bunny Wuffles for allowing the use of her originals to make these. There is also a season-change doghouse, a snow-added version and an unpainted base.
In Miscellaneous is a clown painting with a hidden sting. A menu option allows you to zap the motives of all the sims in the same room so drastically they die screaming for a hamburger.
7th May
In the Season-change section there is now a pine tree base, and ooie63 makes her hacking debut with a season-change flamingo base!!
If you are thinking of offering objects or help to simlogical, please read my submissions policy which may also be accessed through the ETC section.
6th May
There is now a "Plus" version of the season-change controller, that changes your Sims from normal outfit to winter if they go outside. Doesn't affect Sims wearing outfits other than normal. Requires Vacation EP of course.
5th May
I have made two new versions of the snowy ground rug - one with wheel ruts in it and one with footsteps. You can lay the wheel rut rug on the road after using the "map_edit on" cheat to make the road into an area you can put things on.
4th May
Sorry I had forgotten to upload the metal table base. It's there now if you want to try again (-:
2nd May
The seasonal objects are now out of Beta in their own permanent section. Just as I anticipated, there were no functional problems. I have added to the collection the white wrought iron garden bench, chair and table.
30th April
I have been through all the objects, and those that haven't given any trouble lately, and I'm not planning to update, and don't need their original GUIDs in order to work, and weren't originally someone else's, I have marked as "free to clone". Please read my cloning policy to see exactly what that means.
In the Beta section of downloads, there is now a range of outdoor objects and their controller that can change their appearance to simulate the four seasons. This scheme should not be confused with the SimSlice weather machine, but could work alongside that very nicely to complete the picture.
26th April
In Objects with Restrictions is a New Method Shareable laptop computer, with art work by Mhari, so it's well worth grabbing for its looks alone!
25th April
The shift bed in Objects with Restrictions has been updated to encourage shift workers to go to bed at a sensible time, so they'll have some energy for their shift.
Some pale lilac curtains have now joined the others, on request.
24th April
OK, let's try again now I have uploaded it! In Miscellaneous there is a no-kids sign. This doesn't touch children who actually live on the current lot, but it vaporises any other children that come to the lot. You should be able to use this on location to have an adults-only community lot for example.
In Motives and Skills there is now a "college" version of the Superstar exercise bench. Autonomous exercising with no bad mood get-out.
In Visitor Control, the quick teleporter has been updated to ask if you want the whole family when you choose one Sim. This only works for real neighbourhood families, not Townies etc.
In Motives and Skills there is a Party Plant that only acts on visitors, leaving the residents as miserable as they want to be.
16th April
There is an up-only and a down-only set of "retro" (concrete) stairs suitable for institutions. I put them on the Yahoo Group http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/simlogics/ for now until I can decide where they belong on the website
I fixed the No Tradesmen sign so the bills are vaped, not just left invisibly mounting up!
15th April
I have made, on request, a set of serving trays that when used on a residential lot will give the family 20 simoleans each time a non-family sim takes a meal from them. They have two timed meal times a day. These are similar to the prison cell trays but do not have the cell-ownership detection feature, so they don't do unnecessary processing for a non-prison-cell setting. However they'll work fine in a prison communal dining room if you do want to make extra money from your prisoners.
13th April
Move-out plant updated to add option to remove Sim from game entirely - i.e. delete from hard drive.
12th April
I put the school uniforms back online, just for the little kids' schools this time, and I have supplied instructions for how you can edit your career file to get the School Controller to use them.. I have not gone back to supplying the "starter" packs with the pre-edited careers file, because it's too precarious making sure no one tries to use the wrong one for their setup. At least if you've edited your own file, you will have gained some understanding of what's going on "under the hood" in case it needs fixing in the future.
11th April
Two more safe long-burning fireplaces - the huge lodge one and the cheap white one. Also a very simple teleporter with no timing, no allocating, no checking - so you can teleport the same sim or NPC over and again and have limitless clones.
10th April
In the Miscellaneous section there's a horoscope chart that lets any selectable Sim change his or her star sign to suit who they want to get on with.
8th April
I have added two links to the Hospital downloads page which are well worth visiting for objects and skins. They are the top two of the links, which appear just after the download pictures.
I have finally made the prison visit controller, which allows open (normal socialising) visits rather than using a booth. There were further things I could have done with it to enhance the interactions or effects but let's try it plain for now and see how it works out in play. It can always be changed later.
The institutional payphone is updated to stop Sims trying to call people already on the lot. Only bother to download again if this is an issue for you. Also the prisoner token has had a small bug fixed that didn't evaluate the contraband properly. Please download again, it's only a small file anyway (-:
Finally there is a proper move-out fern to complement the move-in fern. This one allows you to choose *any* family to move your Sim in with. The move-in fern has been updated to remove the now redundant move-out features.
5th April
The school bell has been updated to stop the car pool coming for teachers, and there is now also a teacher recruiter.
4th April
There was an error on the Prison downloads page, with links pointing to the wrong files. It should be fixed now, but please Refresh the page when you go back to make sure you pick up the change.
I have added a new section, for all the auxiliary institutional furniture and objects. You will find it under Institutions. Today I have added to it several hacked tables - some that only allow eating at, and some that can only be sat at or used with objects the player puts on them. There are also a couple of new chairs. All are in institutional canteen style.
2nd April
There are 3 more colours of the Enforceable director's chair, and a "Mood door" in the doors section. The mood door is for temporary use during parties so you don't let party-poopers in (Sims in bad moods) and if they get into a bad mood later they leave through it!
31st March
In the Miscellaneous section, there is a cheap bathtub that doesn't require privacy or make puddles. And there is now an alternative grade school chair. A red armchair, for very spoilt pupils - by request.
29th March
Institutional payphone now on the Institutions page. Non-resident inmates etc can phone a family member autonomously (or player can direct them to call someone if the Sim is controllable). Gives social and maintains relationships. No calls after 10pm or before 7am to reduce chance of negative interaction.
28th March
I fixed a bug in the Prisoner Token that could have caused it to reset and unallocate from the prisoner under some circumstances.
27th March
In the Prison collection, there is now a system where if the prisoner is being locked in or out of his cell, or being called to a class, he is given a temporary "pass" that is recognised by the inter-wing doors if they would normally be locked against him. To benefit from this you need to download the inter-wing doors, prisoner token, prison controller and classroom chair again.
I have also altered the in-cell toilet, shower, and handbasin so that staff cannot use them even when they are in a communal washroom. Staff can still sit at tables with the inmates.
25th March
Please read the updated notes about EPs and locations on the Downloads page next time you go there.
24th March
In the Fireplace section you can now find a safe Library Edition fireplace, and in the Doors section a barred door with the Ultimately Targetable hack. Bits and pieces of feedback are beginning to reveal that in order to use the menus on any of my doors you probably need Hot Date or later (Deluxe will do as it does have the later game core)
20th March
The upgraded Prison Controller and Token are now out of beta testing and on the main Prison page, and they are joined by a Prison Classroom Chair and Classroom Controller so that you can "improve" your prisoners. There is also an illustrated Getting Started guide for you to download.
Later: Oops sorry I forgot to add the Staff Recruiter to the page. It's there now, but don't forget to Refresh the page if you go back to get it.
19th March
Two new keep-away signs in Miscellaneous - one for tradesmen, ie mail carrier, paper girl, and parcel delivery, and one for wildlife such as raccoons, roaches and rabbits.
14th March
The Enforceables are now on general release and have their own section under Downloads. There is a new object to help keep scavengers such as the raccoon away, in the Beta section.
11th March
Beta testers please download all four beta prison objects again.
10th March
Because some people lately have been having trouble getting the menu for the timed doors, I have created an illustrated guide to help you work out if you are trying to do it right. You can get to that guide from a link in the Doors page introduction, or from here.
7th March
An update to the Beta version of the Prisoner Token. This bulletin only applies to people beta-testing, anyone else can go on using the same one they downloaded from the Prison page.
6th March
I have had another try with the enforceable objects, and a new version of the Speaking Point is now available in Beta, that does allow you to cross the action off the selected Sim's queue. Please remember, I *NEED* feedback - good or bad - if I am to develop this range.
5th March
I have added an Ultimately Targetable version of the Monticello door, which is now on the Doors page.
In the Hospital section (under Institutions) there is a recliner chair coloured blue and modified specially to allow visitors to stay with their relatives in hospital. The napping visitor will wake when the patient does, in case they need company.
3rd March
WARNING: It's just been discovered that the Visitor Controller crashes the game (apparently harmlessly) if used while the control panel at the bottom of the screen is displaying the jobs/skills settings. I am going to see if this can be fixed, but in the meantime try to avoid doing this!
In the Beta section are the new contraband-featured prison objects. I advise everyone to get all four of the objects on that page as they have all been updated in interrelated ways.
29th February
In the permalamps section there is now an invisible ceiling light, and in the Restricted Objects section is a hob (cooktop) hacked with New Method shareable and non-burning option.
The promised firedoor that works with the interconnecting fire-alarms has been completed and is in Miscellaneous.
There were some errors on the Curtains page, with about 3 of the pictures showing the wrong coloured curtains. I have now fixed that.
27th February
In the Beta section now are some objects that can give your prisoner Sims courses in Anger Management, Life Skills, Enhanced Thinking, and Group Therapy, all of which have a variety of positive effects on their personality and skills. Don't forget to let me know how you get on.
The Enforceable objects have been temporarily withdrawn while I find a way to improve them due to feedback telling me a lot of you found them awkward to use.
17th February
The Please Yourself geranium has been updated to allow you to disable freewill for assigned Sim.
I have reluctantly decided to drop the new version control initiatives. It was an excellent idea, but just as I feared I have been unable to remember to implement it consistently. I feel an inconsistently applied method can be more confusing to the end user than using a more long-winded but reliable one. I now suggest that if you don't know whether you have the latest version of something, you use your browser's search on this page to see if any of the update bulletins mention your object. You can also ask me directly. Best of all, join the Yahoo mailing list and you will be kept up to date with all revisions.
16th February
In the Institutions section, some non-hacked polypropylene stacking bucket chairs just like they have in schools!
15th February
I've fixed the prison tables and staff office window to stop them needing whatever EP they were checking for.
14th February
In Visitor Control, there is a "controller" thingy that gives you a menu of all Sims and NPCs on the current lot and you can choose one for whom to get a box listing their current motive scores. That way you can see what visitors or your date would like next. Don't look at the downtown chef's hygiene score unless you want to be put off your food!
13th February
In the Motives section, there is now a geranium that is assignable to an individual Sim, and on which you can set each of his motives to be minimised, maximised or left alone. The mood adjustments happen to the Sim every half hour on an ongoing basis until you change the settings or unassign the object.
11th February
Ok then, I *think* I've finished the rearrangement. If anyone spots any remaining broken links, please let me know.
Procedures I have introduced to reduce "bandwidth theft" etc mean that you won't be able to rely on any direct links to pages or files that you might have given out or stored as a favourite, but hopefully I have set things up so you will at least be redirected to the home page if a link has expired. I am afraid the same applies to the no-frames start page, and any direct link to that will divert you to the main home page when the no-frames page link is expired periodically.
8th February
I'm starting to rearrange the site a little as it was getting too big and unwieldy. Rather than take it down for days I'm going to try and do it under your feet, so I apologise in advance if you suddenly find something doesn't work while you're browsing! For a little while you might find some things in several different places. Hope it's not too confusing!
7th February
I have altered the hospital staff toilet, basin, shower and coffee maker so that they will automatically recognise staff members in any of the types of institution at simlogical. There is now a separate staff section, and I will probably add the staff doors types to this, to increase style flexibility.
Inspired by a suggestion from Michael of SimsBasement, I have instigated a system of version numbering for objects. The filenames themselves cannot change, because of overwriting complications, but the version number will appear in the catalogue descriptions, which can be viewed either in game or using any utility such as Tmog or SimCategoriser that allows this. I will not retrospectively fill in version numbers on existing files, as it would not be helpful for someone who downloaded an object before it was numbered but who in fact does have the latest version.
6th February
New object for prison cells - a locker that contains books, snacks, and you can keep the TV on top of it. The toilet has been updated so they can throw their empty snack wrappers in it (-:
5th February
I have fixed the "never-ending" prison shower, and made a small tweak to the blue timed and cell doors that may help stop NPCs resetting them. There is now also a range of in-cell/communal tables and chairs for the prison.
1st February 2004
Later... I have just uploaded the blue prison cell door again, as TMog had slyly given it a gap again when I decided to change the colour of about 5 pixels between testing and uploading ))-:
In Shareable, New Method, there is now a 4-key glass door, and with special thanks to Rumbo for permission to hack, we also now have a 4-key door to match the lovely industrial Anthrazit set at Colorized Sims (link provided on download page).
There is also an object in Beta for changing everyone's outfit on any lot.
31st January
The prison objects seem safe enough to elevate to normal release status now, and I have added a set of non-barred doors more suitable for a modern prison. They can be used interchangeably and alongside the barred doors if you wish. Also matching staff-only office doors and internal windows.
25th January
There are now a small range of family-only doors suitable for vacation, old town, or residential use. No menus, no setting-up. I have created a new section called "Specialist doors" under Miscellaneous, where these, and now the bathroom doors too, can be found.
24th January
People who can't see frames now have a chance to do without. It's not perfect, and you'll have to use your Back button to come back up to the menu again etc. but better than nothing.
23rd January
I have updated the orange "EP notice" panel on the main Downloads page with new information for people with only the original Sims.
A new in-cell TV in the Prison section, plus some small fixes in other items (see the special news section on the Prison page). Also my no-busker sign that used to be on the Livin-It-Up website. And from that site, I have borrowed a lovely tinted glass and black-ash door by Cravze and made it into a 4-keyholder door.
21st January
There is a new "safe" red brick fireplace - the fireplaces are in their own subsection under Miscellaneous now.
I have made targetable versions of 3 castle/church doors and a hospital door, and a 4-key version of the hospital door.
20th January
Another revision of the prison set. Please read the update news on the Prison downloads page.
No I didn't just accidentally post the below news twice - you can tell I've been doing this prison stuff to the exclusion of all else for several days now (-:
18th January
Thanks to everyone who helped with the test below, I have all the data I should need now. It's not all that good news, even though in a small minority, there were sufficient crashes to make it important to put the extra tests in the code )-:
16th January
Another revision of the prison set. Please read the update news on the Prison downloads page.
15th January
If anyone would be willing to help me with a very quick test, please click here to read about it.
14th January
The updated set of "playable preview" prison objects is now available
12th January
The irresistible visitor diving board (misc) and the visitor exterminator (visitor control) are now online.
I have made the promised event control gnomebench.
The hospital private patients' door, toilet, shower and basin are now also amended to allow locational families.
11th January
The hospital bed is now altered to allow you to admit Townies etc as well as normal neighbours.
I have updated the rent-a-crowd tree to allow you to teleport a crowd of just superstars. Also I have improved the randomisation for all the groups, so you get a better variety each time.
There is a new object also in visitor control, called bye-for-now. You can select any Sim on the lot including NPCs and vaporise them. Also an option to zap everyone at once who isn't a resident.
The first versions of the prison control objects are now available in their own section. These include an allocatable bed, and auto-detecting doors and in-cell sanitation objects which decide who can use/enter based on whose beds are in the cell. That means you only need to allocate the bed and not set up a load of other assignable objects. Moving the bed makes the other objects automatically change access rights.
Expect to find bugs, and I'd love to hear about them and your suggestions for improvements.
6th January
Later... Thanks to the renewed efforts of my beta testers to send in their reports, I have managed to get the two items below out of beta in record time! Many thanks to everyone for your help (-: But if any problem has slipped through please don't hesitate to let me know.
Earlier... I have made some final tweaks to the user interface for the car portal manager in preparation for it coming out of beta. I would appreciate some of you redownloading and commenting particularly on whether it is now easier to understand it.
I have added to beta section a Rent-a-crowd tree, which teleports groups of sims 10 at a time to your lot. This is a simple object and I don't expect it to need a lot of testing, but I do need to know if it needs any EPs.
3rd January 2004
I have added a new area under downloads, for objects I'd like help with Beta testing. Please read warnings before downloading objects.
2nd January 2004
The visitor empowerer was not working correctly in a no-EP game when you used the Disempower option. This has now been fixed.
The move-in plant has been updated to work as long as you have one of Hot Date, SuperStar or Makin' Magic. Before it needed Hot Date.
The reservable double beds have been revised so that a Sim who is assigned a side of the bed won't care who is in the other side. That means you can have married couples at war with each other (or only just met even!) but they can still use the marital bed.
All the timed doors have been improved to make it easier to set their times up. The menu now confirms which side of the door you have selected, so you won't be setting the wrong side by mistake.
31st December
I have made some power-nap recliners out of the "cheap" recliner. One is original colour, and two are recoloured by me, and they haven't turned out too bad this time, for a change :D
29th December
We've just won our second ever award!! Parsimonious have awarded simlogical the Parsimonious Staff Choice Award for excellence in Hacked Objects. See the award in the ETC... section.
My power-nap recliner from LIU is now online, in the Motives section. I have changed the graphics to be the original Maxis ones as they were much better than my attempt! But the GUID is the same so if you downloaded while it was on LIU it will overwrite the one you had.
27th December
All the new-method 4-key doors have now been updated in line with the experimental barred door that let you give keys to named animals and NPCs too.
I have made a small change to the move-in fern that reduces some of the intermittent crashing, but you still should not evict a family larger than 8 to the create-a-family screen. Please re-download
26th December
If you have downloaded the move-in move-out plant, don't evict families of more than 8 into the Create-a-Family screen or your game will crash. Don't panic if it crashes - simply reload and go into one of your lots with less than 8 family members and move in the extra people into that house. When you've done that, the Create-a-Family screen won't crash any more. There is further help I can give people who get stuck - mail me if you need to.
One of the advantages of not having any family at home for Christmas is it gives me a chance to do work that requires more research and concentration than usual. It is now my pleasure to bring you a true Visitor Controller. Yes, that's right, visitors and NPCs can now have that diamond and you can tell them what to do! In downloads under Visitor Control.
25th December
I've just invented a move-in move-out swordfern. It needs Hot Date because the Sims become Townies when you move them out. If you have Unleashed you can adopt animals too. This object allows you to have more than 8 fully controllable family members, but you'll need to read the instructions carefully. It's in the Visitor Control section as I couldn't think of anywhere more suitable!
23nd December
Oops - this should have been updated yesterday! I have added the smaller vacation fireplace to the non-burning fireplaces, by request. I have also worked out now how the timing is implemented, and have been able to update both fireplaces with that small fix so they no longer light themselves in the morning until you decide they should be lit.
21st December
My whole range of curtains from Livin It Up have now been transferred over here. They are on a submenu under Miscellaneous. Please be aware I have changed the filenames but not the GUIDs nor anything inside the files. That means if you already got them from LIU there is no benefit in downloading them again, and if you do, you must delete the ones with the old filenames first.
Also now transferred are the single-tile dressers, the screen dressers and the servant bell. All in Miscellaneous.
20th December
I have added an electric piano to the range of Event Control objects.
A fireplace that doesn't burn other objects and stays alight all day is now in Miscellaneous.
19th December
Some objects in the Motives section had faulty links which I have now corrected.
I have added a barred door to the new-method shareable section, and have added some new settings for you to try out, to give extra control over NPCs primarily.
18th December
I am starting to put all the objects that I had on Livin It Up onto simlogical, so that I can keep them all together. I have started with the single-owner "reservable" objects which were my very first published hacks. I have brought them up to date with my current methods, and given them new filenames rather than the LIU naming style. Therefore they are also recloned and have new GUIDs so that if you already had the ones from LIU you won't get duplicate object IDs. The single-key lockable door has been changed to lock both sides at once, no more turning the view to set the other side.
I have also made slight changes to the reservable objects that were already on here, to bring them all properly into line, but they have not changed filename or GUID. There is no need to redownload if you are happy with what you already downloaded.
The family and hotel reservable sleigh beds have been edited to no longer require Hot Date.
15th December
I'd left some the fridge strings in the single-tile dresser. I don't think it causes much problem other than a smile when you see them. I have uploaded the fixed version, and a file with just the strings in, which will be easier if you've already done the recolouring.
Earlier...I don't believe it! On 11th December when I posted the controllable computer fix, I accidentally left the controller out of the zip - and not one person's complained!!! Anyway, the zip is now complete and reuploaded (-:
14th December
There's a new tab in the main menu now, ETC..., which for the time being will lead to anything that doesn't fit in the other sections (-:
Later... Sorry there was a little buglet in the stainless steel table lamp. Please re-download.
There is a new subsection under Miscellaneous downloads, called Permalamps. This is a collection of lamps that stay on permanently, day and night, which was requested by a few people.
12 December
A new event object, the electric guitar now in the Event Control section. The range is now officially declared "out of beta" as no serious problems have been reported.
I forgot to say yesterday, but in Miscellaneous, similar to the Party Plant, is the Leisure Plant. Maximises motives except Social, Fun and Hunger, so the Sims concentrate on doing lots of fun things like eating and playing.
11th December
There was a bug in the Event Control computer that stopped you allocating the full intended range of Sims. If this has been a problem to you, the fixed file is now available to download. Please remember to end an event before quitting the game and restart it when you next play the lot if you want to avoid losing your object allocations. Maxis do annoying integrity checks at shutdown or loadup time!
10th December
Party Plant added in Miscellaneous section. Maximises all motives apart from Social for all Sims on the lot. Good for making friends and having babies.
No-privacy-required non-clog Flush Force toilet base in Recolouring.
Plus - all simlogical toilets apart from the base above have now been updated to help remind silly Simmies not to go cook a meal when they woke up to go to the toilet! Priority peeing at bladders fuller than minus-65. Also non-clogging made more reliable.
9th December
I have been asked by several people to reinstate some sort of mailing list to keep people informed when I have updated the downloads. Therefore I will now return to using the simlogics Yahoo group for this purpose. The list will be read-only; if you choose Individual Emails or Digest you will receive download news, while if you choose Special Notices only, you will only receive mail when there is some urgent news about the site, like a change of URL, or extended downtime.
8th December
Two more objects in Event Control range: interlinking theatre seating, and work computers. The work computers also allow you to allocate NPCs to them. Please let me know in the next few days if there are any problems, because I am planning to declare the range out of beta very soon.
7th December
I have made a juniper bush that teleports an individually selected Sim (or NPC) to the lot - at pre-settable daily times or whenever you choose. Ideal for shift-workers, close friends, lovers, early morning cleaners etc. In Miscellaneous.
5th December
The fire alarms have been updated so they free children from their school chairs, and everyone from their controllable event objects. Hospital patients confined to bed will still have to be got up specially if they need to be evacuated.
I have re-added the pew/sofa to the range of controllable event objects. Remember this is the 2nd incarnation of them, and if you already downloaded pews before, these are a different object number and will not overwrite them.
2nd December
OFFER NOW CLOSED, SORRY If you live on the UK mainland, and don't mind giving me your postal address, EA have given me some The Sims advent calendars to give away. Read the Announcements forum for further details.
Later... I noticed I had forgotten to categorise fire alarms and visitor empowerer for locations. I have now done it and uploaded.
Earlier... Realistic interconnected fire alarm system added. Controller acts as compulsory assembly point to stop Sims playing with the fire, apart from one automatically appointed adult fire warden who will be the only Sim who can leave the assembly point while the alarms are sounding. Test or fire drill mode available. In the Miscellaneous section.
29th November
I have made a new object, a Visitor Empowerer, which you can download from the Miscellaneous downloads page. When turned on, all visiting neighbours get the same powers as residents, so they can cook and stay the night etc. This is a buyable object, not a patch.
The updated range of General Event Control objects is now available. Continue to regard them as in Beta for now, so the more nervous might like to wait a while before downloading, although I have played with them a lot in my own game without problems.
Sorry guys, there was one more timing bug in the servery and buffet that I discovered myself. Would error if you tried to set Close2 to 10pm or midnight. If you often found yourself thinking "I'm SURE I set this up once" downloading again might fix it (-: None of the other timed objects are affected by this, it was caused by me having to edit about 48 identical BHAVS in exactly the same way, and getting careless towards the end of the job, although I don't know what my excuse was for the error of 25th November, which was at the very beginning of the job )-:
25th November
Don't forget, if you register at the forums you can make requests for objects, and have a say in how some of the objects work. I'd also love to hear from anyone if the stuff they've downloaded is ok, if it's broken, or if it could be made better in any way.
All the Timed range except the summoner and servery had a bug in them that meant Open1 could not be set to 8am!! Thank you to the observant user who reported this. Anyway, download again if you need to set Open1 to 8am (-:
24th November
I cloned the Maxis tea-set and tweaked a bit to make visitors more eager to join in cup of tea and chat, and to make the tea get cold after it's been poured a while - look in Miscellaneous.
23rd November
Uploaded fixed timed servery and buffet. Should now remain on lot without Houseparty.
22nd November
A single-tile two-door dresser to use as a Recolouring base. A reservable chair with sit-and-stay feature in the Reservable objects section. An update/bugfix to the general controller items.
21st November
**NEW OBJECT** kitchen sink with inbuilt waste-disposal unit. Sims can now wash their garbage down the plug hole! This is made to new-method shareable specs, and therefore is very well suited to small apartments. Look in Downloads under Shareable objects.
Also I have updated the hospital doors and shift bed so they no longer need Hot Date or any other EPs, and I have also fixed the bug that stopped NPCs going through the Private Patients' Door
19th November 2003
There are now some more bed styles in the hotel and family Reservable beds section, including a double bed.
18th November 2003
I have added a dark wood and a white door in each of the following ranges: 4-keyholder (new method shareable), targetable, and ultimately targetable. Later... also federal door and front door in new method shareable.
17th November 2003
And yet another new layout! You getting dizzy yet? If you find yourself without a menu on the screen, just click the simlogical logo.
16th November 2003
There are four new hacked Makin' Magic objects in Miscellaneous today. A wishing well that lets you choose a motive to raise, and a butter churn, spinning wheel, and beehive that are more fun to use and don't cause bad mood refusals. All objects by request.
15th November 2003
Beta2 of the general event controller objects is now online, with a church pew added to the object range. Read the news on the relevant page to find out what's changed
A motive-filling Makin' Magic outhouse is now available in Miscellanous
15th November 2003
Ok it's up again - phew!
Earlier...
The forum seems to be down. Don't ask me why, I didn't do anything to it. We'll just wait a bit in case it's a server problem.
Earlier...
I hope most of you like this new way of displaying news. It means the most recent, and potentially more important site news is not going to be pushed way down by ongoing news of updates.
12th November 2003
I have uploaded some more items to the School collection, which are adult/teenage skills objects with the difference that Sims will use them autonomously and they don't refuse when they're in a bad mood.
I have also started a Miscellaneous section, which has just one object in it to start it off - an exercise machine that makes the Sims change into your choice of outfit type before they exercise.
8th November 2003
In case anyone is wondering whether my hacks will work with Makin' Magic, I believe they are all still working as before. I don't yet have MM myself, but feedback from other users has indicated nothing has broken.
5th November 2003
Apologies to anyone trying unsuccessfully to download the hospital chair yesterday, I had forgotten to upload it. I noticed the errors from my logs. Don't hesitate to email me if you ever notice anything wrong on the site, or post a message about it in the forum.
4th November 2003
We have moved to a new host with plenty of space and bandwidth, and I am now going to start the process of getting all the stuff from the Yahoo group over here so it will all be in one place. As you can see, the name has changed from Sim Logics to simlogical, to match the new domain name simlogical.com
I am minded to keep the Yahoo group running though, because it will be an excellent way of letting people know if there are any problems on the website and keeping in touch during those times. I won't change the name of it just yet, until this new site is fully self-contained, to minimise disruption.
I have brought over the hospital
section from the Yahoo group to the website downloads area.
There are two small bugs I fixed:
1. The patients' washbasin started off saying it belonged to something weird
when you first place it.
2. The patients sometimes kept their censorship blur on after a shower.
