Xtina

While Rainier is away from his desk for a moment, Xtina decides it would be cute to type him a little message on his screen. Just as she's doing that, the phone rings, it's Eleanor wanting to tell her about the horrible Beverly Hills bitch gallery owner she has to intern for. Which is exactly why Xtina dropped out of school, she reminds her friend. "I don't know how you can look at her and smile," Xtina says, "I'd end up slapping her or something." Eleanor laughs, "I'm used to women like her, it's those sorority types at that party you dragged us out to with your surfer boy that I can't stand. And I did end up slapping one, too." Xtina is incredulous: though Eleanor had told her once about being a troublemaker as a teen, Xtina never really believed her, and still can't picture Little Miss Proper, as she often thinks of her friend, actually having a strong enough emotion to cause her to act in violence. Eleanor tells her story in detail: it happened while Xtina was inside with Coby, so she completely missed it. Then they start talking about how the rave club they liked to hang out has been completely remodeled & got a new name, Psychedelic Purr, and decide to meet there later tonight & check it out. By the end of the conversation, Xtina has forgotten the message she left half-typed on Rainier's computer screen.

She remembers it later when she comes into his room to tell him she wants to go to the new Psychedelic Purr club. He's looking very stressed, and it suddenly occurs to her she might have messed something up by typing on his screen.

He tells her something has gone completely wrong with the program he's working on and he's spent all day trying to figure it out. Xtina sinks in dismay, she's sure she did it, and she has to admit it now, because he'll figure it was her when he finds it.

"You typed something in my code?" he says flatly when she tells him what she did. She doesn't even remember now what she typed, it was such a frivolous thing, she thought was funny at the time. "Mon Dieu," he groans, his brow furrowing deeply, "Why would you do that?" he asks. It's a good question, and Xtina hasn't got a good answer.
"How could you do something like that & not tell me? I've lost a whole day over this and I still have to search through the code & find this 'message' you typed, that you can't even remember." Rainier is justifiably upset, but Xtina really hates to have her mistakes pointed out to her and she gets angry at him in return.
"Hey," she says, "It was just a couple of words. Not a big deal..."
Rainier groans heavily, "Petite fille, it is a very 'big deal'. You cannot just type into my code like that..." Xtina folds her arms over her chest. "Don't call me that," she says, refusing to speak to her own mistake. Rainier eyes gleam wickedly, "But you are petite, ma chère, and you are très, très fille."
