It is the universally accepted belief in Sim L.A. that all engagement rings should cost exactly 1,000 simoleons. No reason to tie a guy's salary to it. However, if you must know, a vice squad position pays 490 simoleons a day, so the ring cost him just over 2 days salary.

Ulises wanted to do it on New Years Eve, but with the increased security concerns, all cops are going to be doing overtime that night. The force has been on high alert since Christmas & it's been a lot of mandatory extra hours for all of them. He can't plan for anything special, because all his plans are subject to change. So when he gets a day off and Heather tells him she wants to take him to some Indian restaurant she's found & maybe hit a matinee while they're out, Ulises decides a dinner-and-a-movie date is as good of an opportunity to ask Heather to be his wife as any. In light of where he wants to take this date, he'd be willing to sit through the sappiest romantic movie ever, but Heather wants to see 'The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch'. Ulises didn't understand it the first time he saw it, but it had really awesome effects.

Ulises is suspicious of the creepy guy standing in the aisle. Why doesn't he sit somewhere? It's a matinee at a bargain theater, there's a ton of empty seats......

But when creepy guy finally does find a purpose, Ulises is too busy himself to notice.
