Gavin

Gavin hears a song coming from the stereo, a favorite of his & Xtina's & he impulsively drags her closer to the music, while they reminisce over the concerts they went to & the parties they crashed.

Things could have been different, he thinks, and their hands touch briefly, and they exchange meaningful glances.

"It's too bad it didn't work out," he says, hugging her. It's too late to go back, the brief glance at what might have been is all he can have. "I ruin everything I touch," Xtina sighs bitterly.

"Don't say that, Xtina," Gavin says, just as Shay comes up. Angry: she must have seen him hug Xtina.

Xtina takes off: just as well, she won't help the situation. "What is it with you & your ex-girlfriends?" Shay asks him, anger evident in her voice. "It was just a friendly hug," Gavin explains, giving her his best smile, "There was nothing going on there at all.." "What about rehearsing with her? Are you hanging out with her behind my back?" Shay demands. Her jealousy issues run deeper than he thought. "No, Shay, she just wanted to talk about her romantic problems, breaking up with that surfer guy she brought to last party. We had a cup of tea & talked & we ended up running through the scene, that's all," he says. Shay shakes her head, "I don't see why you have to be so involved with her still, why she has to talk to you about her problems." Gavin doesn't understand why she doesn't understand, he'll always be friends with his lovers, unless like Astrid they choose to make him an enemy.
