While they have the time off, the houses decide to have a small BBQ. Xtina wants everyone to meet her latest boyfriend. Gavin is eager to meet him himself, but waits as he is introduced to Eleanor first.

When Justin claims Eleanor's attention, Gavin introduces himself to Rainier. Gavin wasn't so sure about the surfer Xtina had take up with after they broke up, and it does seem to have been the rebound thing they all thought it was. The new guy is definitely more suitable, intelligent, engaging.

Shay is feeling a little neglected, so Gavin returns to her, and romances & kisses her.

When Justin's kebabs are done, everyone rushes to the BBQ. He's the best chef any of them have ever met, and it was great luck to get such a talented housemate, so willing to cook for everyone. After he eats with Shay, he gets up to talk to Xtina, who wants to know about what is going on with the Sandman movie.

He tells her that Byron disappeared & the movie is on hold, "But the last scene we shot, the one I rehearsed with you, went really well, Xtina. I can't thank you enough, I was afraid I would never get past that scene," he says, grateful to her for helping him through that. Even if Byron never came back & Gavin never had to finish this film, he has closure with that scene, which was causing him so much personal distress.
