Gavin

Gavin has memorized his lines perfectly, but he is not prepared to act his first scene. "Okay, you've just left the dining room in anger, because your siblings all got on your case about what you did to the girl 10,000 years ago. You're very self-righteous, I need to see that. You don't think you did anything wrong. Your sister, Death, the only one you're really close to, follows you out. You think she'll be on your side, but she's not. She agrees with the others..." Byron directs him. Gavin knows it's about Dream, his character, it's not about him. But he's getting it all too confused.
Every word in the dialog seems to attack him personally, "It is bad news for us to get involved with them. You know that." Astrid says her lines, smiling at him with real affection, it seems, like she still has feelings for him. "I would have made her a goddess," he replies, looking her in the eyes. To him, they were all goddesses, all his girls, and he still worships each of them, in some small way, Astrid included. And then it comes, he knows it's coming & he should be prepared for it: "Maybe she didn't want to be a goddess, Little Brother. Did you ever consider that? Anyway, condemning her to an eternity in Hell, just because she turned you down.....That's a really shitty thing to do." She looks at him so sweetly as she speaks, like she forgives him, despite her disappointment in him....

"Astrid, I am so sorry," he breathes so softly only she will hear, and he reaches for her, to kiss her. Astrid slaps him in the face. "Gavin, you ass, I'm playing a part here. This isn't about us, there was never an 'us' for it to be about. The whole time I was with you, I was screwing her, too," Astrid yells at Gavin, gesturing at Alison. Did she just tell him she was having an affair with Alison while she was with him?

"Cut! cut!" Byron yells, "She's Death, she's your sister, you're not supposed to kiss her!" Of course, this has all been witnessed by Shay..how is he going to explain this, when he doesn't understand what's going on himself?
|
Byron is shouting as he gets up from his chair. "Gavin, I don't know what that was about, but if you have something going on with Astrid you can't deal with, we can get another actress," he says to Gavin. Gavin doesn't want that kind of responsibility, his mental state is bad enough without that on his head. Getting involved in this movie is the stupidest thing he's ever done, and it could very well destroy his relationship with Shay, the only reason he's doing this. Byron sends them all to take a break...

Shay follows Gavin to the dressing room. "Gavin, what's going on with you?" she asks him. Her tone is angry, but her eyes look at him with caring, her hand touches him with love. "You didn't tell me about Astrid: she told me herself, yesterday. Why did you try to kiss her, Gavin?" Gavin folds into himself, groaning. "This whole thing has me so messed up. I don't know what I'm doing...She crushed me, Shay,"
|
"We've all been there, baby, you need to be a little less sensitive," Shay coos at she puts a comforting arm around him.
