Jealousy is a whole new game for Coby: he's never cared about any girl enough to stress over it when she leaves. He certainly never envied the guys who were next in line...But Ti shook up Coby's world like a snowglobe, and he's jealous now not just of Rainier, who has her now, but also of Gavin who shares his status as one of Ti's ex-lovers.

Getting angry & nagging are alien to Coby's way of being: even discovering jealousy hasn't changed his basic nature. So she flirted with ex #1, it's no biggie. When she was looking for someone to go out with behind her boyfriend's back, she chose Coby, and that means something, right?

Ti's friend makes her boyfriend ride the mechanical bull in front of everyone. Coby wonders if that's a weird chick thing, if they all get together & plan how they'll make their whipped boyfriends do stuff for them, for the hell of it. Ti's friend's (Coby just can't get all their names in his head) boyfriend does a great job of it, though. Coby has no problem admiring another guy's form, when the guy deserves it. He probably never goes west of La Cienaga, but he'd probably master the board very quickly, if he got into the surf, Coby thinks.
