Coby

When her friends take off & they are alone again, time slides back & it's it never happened, like her French dude never blew into town, like they're still together.

It's an easy fall. He kisses Ti and everything is right with world, all is good. But how long can you maintain that high? Tonight is only a few hours, and then she goes back to him. "Let's go grab something to eat," he says. It's getting time to draw this night to a close...

Coby wonders how long he's going to be like this for her. It's worse than a drag: unlike any other girl in the world, he thinks about her even while he's surfing. It's made him wipe out more than once.

She kisses him goodnight outside the sushi box: he yearns for the sweet, sweet taste of her kiss. She bats her eyes & gives him her adorable wrinkle-nose smile, and tells him she wants to come home with him. She says if she drives fast enough, she can make it to his place & back to Hollywood without her dude ever knowing...She kisses his nose, even. She's worse than the worst possible drug, she's like some freaking super-heroin & he has to get off now. Every taste just feeds his addiction, every 'date' makes the rest of the time seem pointless by comparison. He thinks, 'just say 'no'. He says, "No," and sighs to himself, unsure as he was that was going to be able to say it. And mean it. "You said the blonde neighbor chick blew you off," Ti pouts at him. "It's not that, Ti," Coby says, never afraid to tell her the truth, "You mess with my head, Ti. I don't want you coming over & going back to him...I'll drop everything for you, Ti, but you have to drop yours, too." He can't walk away completely, he has to leave that opening.

He managed to say 'no' once. He wonders how long he can last before he breaks. He doesn't have the greatest track record with this kind of thing...
