Tanner talks about partying pretty much non-stop, and Coby just kind of lets it roll past him while he thinks about what to do. The Hayley situation isn't unsalvageable, it would just take a little effort on his part to get her back. The question is if it is worth that effort: the beauty of that situation was it's easiness, if he's going to start having to work for it...he doesn't bother to finish that thought. Which leaves him with just Nina on deck: he's put off calling her, meaning if she had been a sure thing after the first date, she isn't now. And the way she flip-flops, she wasn't really a sure thing to begin with: though she implied she wanted to go home with him after the last date, it doesn't mean she wouldn't turn him down the next time. She gives off mixed signals & is difficult to read: just dating her could be more effort than he's prepared for.

Ti calls whenever she wants, if Rain-dude isn't around, and she wants someone to hang out with. He's working late & she wants to meet Coby at the Psychedelic Purr club she likes. Does it feel good to be so whipped you'll drive all the way out to Melrose on a moment's notice to meet a girl who dumped you for another guy? No, it feels like shit...but Coby says yes, anyway. At least, he thinks, it's just Ti, it's not like he's doing this for Hayley, or Nina, or whoever comes up next, it's not like he's completely ruined.

Coby relates the current state of affairs with Hayley & Nina to Ti with complete candor, telling her how Hayley blew him off & how he's not sure he wants to go out with Nina again. If Ti isn't his girlfriend, she's the perfect friend to talk about his girls with. Because she knows where he's coming from.

Like she wants to prove she has him whipped, Ti begs him to do some karaoke. Coby has no problem with this at all: he's made far bigger an ass of himself for much larger crowds: karaoke is nothing. Actually, it's kind of funny.

Coby will sing her a song if that floats her boat, but he takes his payment in advance, tickling her until she blushes.

The club has some bizarre selections in their karaoke playlist, but growing up with Heather as an older sister opened Coby's experience to a wide range of music, and introduced him to a wide range of people. He knows Ti & he knows what she likes: he finds a Nick Cave song & does the deep-voiced imitation he perfected while he was in high school, to impress Heather's goth girlfriends. It has the same effect on Ti.

They head into the bar for a couple of drinks, and Ti tells him she's having car troubles again.

Coby has been meaning to drive up to Topanga & see Heather, so he offers to take Ti up and have his brother-in-law take care of it.
