Byron

On the set the next day, he visits the library scene set being set up, the scene of last night's dream. He's looking for something, he's not sure what...Serena comes on him there, surprising him a little.

Seeing her, his mind changes course immediately. She got away from him last night, so he will speak to her now. "Serena, do you remember what we said, back when we split up to do our own thing?" he asks by way of a greeting, "We said real love wouldn't fade over a long separation. I still love you, I never stopped loving you, Serena. And I can see you still love me. What is keeping you from admitting it?" He watches her face as he speaks, watches her turn red & grow uncomfortable.

"Byron, I'm not afraid to admit I love you, you are the only man I ever have loved. But I don't want this Hollywood business to be part of my life. Doing this everyday is difficult for me Byron. I wouldn't have done it if not for my premonitions, which I've been starting to doubt..." She said she loves him still: that Byron takes as a sign that he will inevitably suceed, though she will stubbornly hold him back for awhile, years even. But he needs to respond immediately to what she said at the end, about doubting her premonitions.

He hears in her voice that she's thinking of not staying on set the entire movie. And while he originally found her fears silly, his dreams lately have begun to frightem him. "Don't doubt them yet, Serena...I've been having...bad feelings myself lately about this. Please, Serena, I need you to stay with me on this," he says. "What kind of feelings, Byron?" Serena asks, looking up at him with her eyes full of concern. Only Serena could tell him what the dreams mean, but Serena is the only person he could never tell the details of these dreams to. Odessa compares herself to Serena constantly, accuses Serena of holding him back. Before he can even begin to find the words to explain that he's been having disturbing dreams without divulging the content of those dreams, his crew find him & swarm around him, some with questions, some with answers to questions he'd asked earlier.

Miraculously, Gavin's performance has turned around overnight. They go through the scene several times, Byron watching amazed as Gavin gets better every time, until he nails it perfectly. He sends his crew home happy tonight, they've completed the first real scene of this shoot.

Tonight, he's not letting Serena get away until he talks to her. He gives a quick shout to Alison & Ruben that he wants them to meet him at his house first thing in the morning. And he quickly approaches Serena and kisses her. For a moment she responds, then she pulls away, whispering, "Byron, please." "Let me come home with you, Serena," he murmurs, pulling her back toward him, not wanting to let go yet, "I'm not asking for much, Serena, I just want to hold you until I have to get up & shoot the next scene," he pleads, and he is a man who pleads for no one. Serena pulls out of his grasp again & backs away. "No, Byron, I can't let you do that," she says turning away & walking out before he can get hold of her again.
