Astrid has memorized all her lines & has done research into the Sandman stories in preparartion for this role. Her part in this movie is actually very small, it's all about Gavin's character. She decides the best way to get to him is through his girlfriend, so she makes a friendly visit to Shay to ask for an outfit to celebrate in. Shay is very pretty & naive & easily taken in.

Shay does have excellent taste: the outfit looks divine. Astrid is pleased.

But Astrid isn't really here to be dressed up, she's here to sow discord betwen Gavin & his girlfriend. "So," Astrid says, tossing her hair, "I take it you're 'with' Gavin? That's what they're saying.." Shay gets defensive immediately: of course, because she got her job at Gavin's insistence. Astrid takes another tack, "Relax, I'm just asking, because that's something we have in common..I used to be 'with' Gavin, too. Didn't he tell you that? He's usually so forthright...," she says suggestively, watching Shay blush & become crestfallen. Gavin will pay for this, Astrid thinks with a smile. And she goes on to comment on the locket Shay is wearing, & quotes the Lord Byron poem Gavin would have engraved on it. He's so predictable. Astrid can see in Shay's shrinking demeanor that she is right.

Astrid makes sure to get in plenty of compliments and a hug before she leaves. "You are just fabulous," she says, "And I just know we'll be great friends."

The first scene they're shooting is one of Astrid's most important scenes, where she confronts Gavin's character about his past. She practices her lines in the dressing room mirror. She does look really great in this costume, she thinks. She's going to take this small role & shine in it!
