Adam

Adam is a mess. He's been in messes before, but this is the worst ever. All he wants is a chance to make it in this business....why does it has to involve being a whore? He feels sick from what he's done with Christine already & what he's likely going to have to do after this party coming up. And after her, after he gets whatever she's going to give him once she's used him up, who's next?

Adam's never been good at hiding how he feels: he knows Steve is concerned about him, though he hasn't told Steve anything about why he feels so wretched all the time, except that he's nervous about this party. Steve assumes he's feeling blue about the holidays, about his family, and he starts reminding Adam how good their life is together & how his family's disapproval doesn't matter. Adam hasn't even had time to mope about his family this holiday season, and he doesn't really care if the fact that he's been being used like a whore by a woman would make his mother happy or not. Steve's support just makes him more miserable....if he knew what Adam was up to, he would be very disappointed, not supportive. So Adam just lets Steve thinks he's depressed about the holidays & goes along tamely as Steve tries to cheer him up by taking him to dinner & shopping.

Adam has nothing to say at dinner and even shopping is not really fun, since he's buying a suit to wear for Christine & her party.

Adam's mood has driven Steve to the point of seducing him in the dressing booth. When Adam isn't miserable, this usually exactly his kind of thing, it's Steve who insist on keeping it at home. But since his recent shopping trip with Christine, Adam is not so turned on by the dressing booth this evening. But if he can fake it for a woman, he can fake it for his lover, and Adam acts with great passion, a Hollywood love scene worthy of some kind of award, he thinks.

The whole thing, Christine, the party, not being truthful with Steve, makes him feel filthy & used like a public urinal.
