Adam

Adam of course makes a point of calling Estelle, after giving himself a couple of days so he doesn't appear desperate for the star's attention. She's all excited about the re-opening of the rave club on Melrose, now called Psychedelic Purr, and she's going to be singing a few songs for them on the opening night. She invites Adam to come to the show & hang out with her after her gig.

It's a huge thrill for Adam, he can sense she's going to be really big.

After her show, he tells her how great she was. He doesn't even have to fake it, he really is a huge fan of hers.

She's all smiles & blushes, like his opinion really matters. "Thanks Adam," she gushes, "You're a sweetheart."

Estelle points out to him that the drummer of the punk band F Hole is dancing in a cage nearby. The new club is certainly attracting its share of celebrities, and Adam is one of them.

Estelle's first video featured a lot of scenes of her riding a mechanical bull. He'd assumed they were using a body double for most of the shots, but seeing her ride live in the club, he now believes she did it herself.

They sit & order drinks, and because Estelle is such a big star, they don't even have to pay. They talk about their ambitions, a favorite topic for both of them. Then after a moment of silence, Estelle says, "I've been seeing you in the tabloids a lot lately Adam, with that actress from 'My Life is Mine'. Is that very serious?" Adam laughs, "Beverly? No, that's something that was set up by our agent. We aren't really 'dating'." Estelle smiles, "Oh, I know what you mean. My agent is always trying to set me up with this or that pop idol or actor, to help boost my career. But I don't like any of those guys, they're all so phony & concerned with just themselves. Not like you Adam, you're different from any guy I've ever been out with, even before I was famous. I was hoping we could see each other again." Living in his fantasy of being one of the many gay guys that hang around pop divas, it never occurred to Adam that Estelle might think he was straight. He wasn't even trying to act straight. But before he can quip, "That's because the guys you usually date aren't queer," Adam checks himself: his lesbian 'girlfriend' isn't doing anything for his career, and he's going to have to find another, younger, better one. And here is a major star, young & hot, one he actually enjoys hanging around, actually asking to do it herself. Of course, she's looking for a real boyfriend, and eventually, he will have to put out or get out. But in the immediate moment, it is just too easy to say, "That would be really great, Estelle," and wait for the media to work themselves into a frenzy over Hollywood's hottest new couple, and worry about the consequences later....
