Shay

Shay didn't get what she came out for tonight, in fact, having been treated so shabbily by Monica was a huge step downward, because it left her without even that as a short term goal, and nothing else on her career horizon to strive for. But she's gotten something else out of the evening that she didn't bargain for: she has a new goal, seperate from her career ambitions. Shay will not rest until she gets Gavin to call her the most beautiful woman on earth again, & mean it. She is going to make him forget about this ex-girlfriend of his completely, and have his love & devotion for herself. She lays her hand on his shoulder flirtatiously & tells him that though the whole thing with Monica went wrong, she still had a really great time with him. "Maybe we can hang out again....without the Arthags," she says, smiling hopefully.

Gavin looks her in the eyes & Shay feels weak in the knees, like she did for her first high school crush..only much much more so.

And then Gavin draws her into his arms for a deep & passionate kiss, and then just as suddenly, he pulls away. "I'm sorry, Shay" he sighs, "I shouldn't have done that." Still elated from the kiss, Shay is stunned into silence by his words..."You deserve better," Gavin continues. "Better?" Shay gasps "Better than what, Gavin? I've been around the block a few times...they don't come much better than you," she says, laying herself on the line for him & steeling herself for rejection while she's at it. He looks at the floor now as he speaks, "I'm broken & used, Shay. My last girlfriend dumped me like so much garbage..I'm not really all that..."

"Didn't it ever occur to you that you're the one who deserves better, Gavin? Better than being treated like crap, better than being slapped around by some...some girl who doesn't appreciate you?" Shay interrupts him. "Gavin, the things you said to me tonight..you made me feel really special...but you are the special one," she finishes, hoping she didn't overdo it. He looks up at her now, and gently strokes her cheek, "I meant what I said, Shay," he says to her, "You are really beautiful." But there is still a hesitancy in his voice & even in his caress...he drives her home & they kiss for what seems like hours in his car, but as she is about to invite him into her home, into her bed, he rests his finger over her lips to stop her from speaking. "I will call you tomorrow, Shay," he says to her, giving her one last parting kiss before sending her off.
