Nicolas

Nico spends the night at Jackie's. And what a night! Nico wakes up exhausted, barely able to open his eyes. But Jackie is completely awake, running all the way to the downstairs bathroom while he's still rubbing his eyes & trying to stand himself up to make his way down to her kitchen.

But once he shakes the sleepiness off & gets down to the kitchen, he sees Jackie standing looking kind of lost & tired herself. And she's so damn beautiful, with her wistful eyes & bedraggled hair, he's suddenly filled with passion & energy, and gives her a good morning kiss that will last all day. "Do you cook?" he asks, "Or do you want me to make breakfast?" he asks, because he's starving. "You cook, too?" Jackie asks him. "Not as good as my mother," he answers, and starts investigating the contents of her fridge. "You need to do some shopping, what does that butler guy do for you anyway?" he comments, but manages to pull together some breakfast.

"Hey, it's not that bad, is it?" he asks, noticing that she barely touches it, just pushing her eggs around her plate while she stares off into space. "I'm just... not that hungry," she says vacantly. Her phone rings, so she leaves her uneaten plate to go get it. Nico has started to worry she's having second thoughts about him, that's she's regretting asking him to stay. When she come back, she tells him Bill's got her a gig as the musical guest on the Charlie Chatterbox show...she'll have to sing with his house band, she won't even be allowed to play her bass. "I don't like the sneaky way he's trying to push me to go solo," Jackie sighs, "But I have to go. Will you wait here for me?" She looks so sad & desperate when she asks, like he'd actually take off on her. "Of course I'll wait...or should I go to the grocery store for you while you're out?" he offers, relieved that she isn't taking the opportunity to get rid of him. Though she still looks sad & kind of worn out, she smiles at him like she's heard the best news ever, like she's happier about him staying than she is about getting the TV gig. "I'll tell my driver to take you to the store," she says, kissing him before she heads off to get ready for her gig.

Nico does her shopping & comes back to her still empty house. So he plays with her recording equipment. She easily has millions of simoleons invested in her home studio...Nico has never seen anything like it.

And he spends the rest of the day hanging around her private beach, wondering when she'll come back, and how long he's going to be staying here. Yesterday, he was all set to buy a plane ticket back to Italy, until Bill Arthag sent for him, to audition for Jackie's band. But she hasn't said anything to him about that since they jammed yesterday, and he's not sure of his position in this house. She asked him to stay, for her, and he loves her enough to make that promise. But what is he to her? Is he her houseboy now? She finally gets home after the sun sets, and joins him on the beach. "How was it?" he asks, not liking the look on her face. "I don't want to talk about it," she says at first, and then changes her mind. "I ran into Monica, that bitch editor of WhooNoo magazine, and she told me...she told me..." and Jackie bursts into tears. She doesn't have to tell him what Monica told her: he knows. "Jackie, listen," he sighs, putting his arm around her, "I can't change what I've done or who I was...but I'm done with that now, I promise. You asked me to stay, for you, and I'm here. Because I love you, Jackie...not because you're famous or rich or any of that, I promise..."

It's such a beautiful evening out on her beach. Like this place was made for romance. Jackie cries a little on his shoulder: it's been a difficult time for her, he knows, losing her guitarist & dealing with him & his past...He's told her twice now that he loves her & she has yet to say the same. He'd like to ask how she feels..but not tonight. Tonight they make love right on the shore & then go up to her bed, once again, hardly sleeping at all.
