After Gavin picks up his proof sheet from the lab, he calls Shay & she suggests they meet at the rave bar. At first, Gavin wants to suggest somewhere else, because the rave bar is one of Xtina's hangouts. But he decides, if she's there, it's her problem, not his. He can conduct his business wherever he needs to. So he meets Shay there & Xtina actually doesn't turn up at all. As he suspected, he got some really great candid shots of Shay, but none of them are suitable as a model's headshots. Luckily, Shay doesn't need a lot of convincing to sign his release form, so the pictures are now his to do with as his pleases. She looks a bit dejected about it, though, so he tells her that her plan really wouldn't have worked, anyway. He's worked as a photographer's assistant more than a few times & he's seen how very little respect the models get treated with. The thought that a big time magazine editor would even listen to a modeling contest winner is absurd on its face: the whole thing is nothing more than a photo op for the editor & advertising for her magazine. Gavin of course puts it all in nicer terms: he's always very careful about not hurting people's feelings, even when he's purposely freaking them out.

Although it really isn't his fault Shay's photos aren't what she wanted, Gavin can't help but feel he stills owes her, so he tells her about the party he recently crashed & that the editor of WhooNoo magazine was there. (Gavin spotted her for a moment, forcing herself on some poor fool of an actor). He offers to sneak Shay into a similar party any time she wants, if she wants to show her designs to the magazine editor, it's a better way of going about it than trying to win a modeling contest. Shay accepts his offer.

The DJ starts playing his own mix of Gavin's favorite Thievery Corporation song, so he asks Shay to dance with him.

When they go get another drink, Shay starts telling him more about herself, about her ambitions to one day make costumes for the film industry.

They have a few beers & talk until last call, sharing the stories of their lives. For Gavin, it is refreshing to make a new friend outside of school, outside of Xtina & their circle of friends. When the bartender calls last call, he promises Shay to find her a party that he can sneak her into very soon.
