The real shooting begins as soon as the sun goes down. They shoot it over and over, far into the night. Gavin thinks he's given it his all, but Byron is still not satisfied. "We're going to shoot this scene again..." he says.

He and Shay get back to his place so late that the kitchen is dark & Justin's leftovers are cold. It's too late to eat, anyway. Shay gets into her sexy satin lingerie. "Gavin?" she says his name like a question, stroking his chest, "When you become a big star, will you still want to be with me?" "I'm not going to be a big star, Shay," he scoffs. The idea is absurd. Shay cocks her head at him, raising her eyebrow. "You are the star of a really big Hollywood production. And you have 'it', Gavin. Think about it, a huge director like Byron Palisades picked you off the street, because he knows 'it' when he sees it. When you get put up on the screen, you are going to be huge. You are going to have girls all over you, you could have anyone you want..." she says.

Gavin doesn't know what 'it' is, that Shay says he has: so far, he certainly isn't much of an actor. He never in his life had even the inkling of the desire to be a 'star', and he doesn't really believe it will happen to him like she thinks. "If I could have any girl I want, I want you, Shay," he says.
