Adam

Which leaves Adam on his own to mingle with the other important people.

There seems to be an inordinate number of horny Industry dames & young gay actors at this party....Adam find Gerry & Ray alone for a minute & confronts them. "What the hell is this, some kind of weird Roman orgy?" he asks. Ray never understands his sarcasm. "Don't these women know or care that we're gay?" Adam asks Gerry. Gerry rolls his eyes dramatically, "Who cares what they care about...you please them & they get you roles, that's all you need to know. You better get used to it, or be a nobody for the rest of your life." It's not what Adam wanted to hear.

Christine grabs Gerry away, Ray is picked up by the matron with the orange fur, & Adam finds himself smoking again, this time with Monica, editor of WhooNoo magazine, the most important Hollywood, Romance & Style magazine in Sim Nation. Steve detests cigarettes: Adam knows he's going to pay for this when he gets home, there will be no way to hide the smell of smoke from Steve.

A woman like her has a lot of power in in the Industry: she decides what gets printed, whose pictures get on the cover.....

A woman like Monica could do a lot for a guy like Adam....Adam swallows his pride & the nauseous feeling rising in him & follows her into one of the 'private' rooms. He hates himself now, he thinks, but it will pay off in the end, right?

Adam has one more cigarette with Gerry before he takes off. At this point, he's done more to disappoint Steve than just smoke. He feels disgusting for what he's done to himself & worse for what it would do to Steve to know. Gerry has been doing this for awhile, and he decides to be nice & help Adam out. "It's just an acting job, Adam. You don't like her, but it doesn't matter, it's not really different from kissing a woman for a tv shoot." Adam tries to be convinced, but that would sound like a lot of bullshit to Steve, and Adam knows it.

Director's Commentary: This party scene, like the scenes in 'The Party' chapters of Kelly & Alison's stories, was shot at a house specially built to be a party/banquet hall. The resident Sim, who is the 'manager' of this hall has a private apartment in this mansion (he doesn't actually appear in Adam's story here, but you meet him in Alison's story & in Gavin's), but the rest is all designed for large upscale parties like this. I used the 'rent a crowd' tree from Sim Logical to summon all the 'somebodies' in my game to this party. The same tree can also be used to summon the residents of your neighborhood, for less snooty affairs. I used the teleplant from Sim Logical to summon Adam & Christine in their formal wear. (Because Christine is a 'somebody' I summoned her before I used the rent a crowd tree to summon the other sombodies, because I wanted her in a different dress. If I used the tree first, she would have shown up in her high fashion outfit, instead.) I also use Sim Logical's 'leisure plant' to keep all their moods up, so they engage in party activities, instead of queueing up for the toilet all night. (And I put in such large bathrooms, lol). I have no control over anyone but the guy who lives here during these party scenes, so this is like 'reality tv' lol.

Note: though you can summon an exclusive crowd of Somebodies only with the rent a crowd tree, you can still get riff raff party crashers...and I don't just mean Drew Carey & Paula Dropinsky from House Party....Gavin shows up at this party, he probably was walking by & he walked on in, since the party was going.....see the "Theater of the Absurd" chapter to see this party from Gavin's pov.

Smoking table by Cheap Frills: only 2 Sims can smoke at a time, but I put extra chairs because I like the look. And for second-hand smokers, I guess. lol.
