Adam

After lunch, Adam checks out the VIP spa on the first floor. It is gorgeous, of course. But not much is going on at the moment, just Ray taking a steam bath.
He doesn't have time to explore the rest of the Marrakesh Lounge & its VIP rooms today, he has a photo shoot for a TV soap magazine today.
When he gets home, he has a message on the machine from Steve: he'll be home late & won't be home for dinner. And he has an email from Sophia. She's set him up on a date with an actress from another soap opera, 'My Life is Mine'. "Beverly is a lesbian herself and like you just needs to be seen dating the opposite sex in public. You are taking her to a bar on Rodeo Dr.," the email read.
So he goes with Beverly to the bar on Rodeo Dr. Why not? Steve is working late & she's a lesbian, so it's like having a drink with a friend. Just as he's starting to think he should ask her about 'going steady' so he can completely avoid 'dating' any straight actresses for the sake of his career, Beverly asks him to marry her. Well, not like that: what she says is she's looking for a gay actor who will after a long & well-publicized courtship, marry her, all for show. When Adam tells her he just got married in San Fran, and that he couldn't possibly take the lie that far, she tells him that they should 'date' for a month or so, depending on how the tabloids react to their 'relationship': if they get a lot of press they can stretch it out, but if no one cares, then it's over. She'll keep looking for Mr. Right & move on.
While Beverly powders her nose, Adam meets celebrity photographer Gregg Hills. He does the photos for really important magazines like WhooNoo and Livin' Large. Adam is also a big fan of Gregg's nude photography & tells him so. Gregg recognizes Adam from the soap opera.
Gregg then gossips & boasts about directing the next F Hole video, & being the first to shoot pictures of the band with their new guitarist. "You should see him in person," Gregg sighs, "He's a dream, and he has this incredibly sexy accent, I don't usually go for that rock'n'roll type, but I'd go for him." Adam isn't so much into the rock music scene, but you'd have to live in a cave to have not seen & heard all the publicity surrounding the death of F Hole's guitarist & now his replacement, this gorgeous Italian who the tabloids say Jackie, the band's singer, picked up playing guitar on the street. But it isn't who Gregg is talking about that Adam cares about, it's the fact that he's stepped up into another world. The celebrity photographer talks to him like a celebrity, he's getting into the VIP rooms of the world. And all he has to do is pretend to be straight in public...very difficult when it seems everyone in this business is gay, too.
